Re: Sooners arrive in Japan for Team USA Tourney!!

As has been mentioned previously, the U.S. doesn't select a "team" that can go toe to toe with the consummate team, Japan. It's an all-star team in most ways, probably lucky if they develop any chemistry at all on the infield, between pitchers and catchers, etc. Roles at the plate probably...

Re: Japan vs the Sooners===What do YOU Think???

From what I've read, Japan is a team that spends a lot of time preparing together. Not just before major tournaments. And they've got tons of international experience, plus a fairly robust professional league. The advantage Japan has over the U.S. and other all-star teams put together for a tourname...

Re: A new GoBoomer!!! from Patty

I'm warming up to Keeney, if she indeed is the pickup. Acknowledging 2023 stats that showed high hits/walks per IP, her work in games against top opponents was pretty good: Oklahoma -- 7 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 5 K (1-0 LU loss) Alabama -- 7 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (LU win) C. Arkansas -- 6 IP, 4 H, 0...

Re: Report: Kelly Maxwell Expected to enter the Transfer Portal

I just saw this. It seems to be written from an OSU perspective. Interesting. https://pokesreport.com/s/4593/kelly-maxwell-is-in-the-transfer-portal-and-rumored-to-be-heading-to-ou Author, Robert Allen, is a big-time OSU homer -- the point being he's not likely to be favorable to the Sooners unless...

Re: What About Taryn Kern??

When you compare Kern's numbers vs. top 25 opponents and then measure her against OU's team and individual batting stats, are the OU stats also limited to performance against top 25 opponents? Just checking.

Re: Jocelyn Erickson Enters the Transfer Portal

I can't say I was that impressed with either late in the season and thought Torres outshined them both - especially in the Champ series. I thought it was a huge mistake to put Erickson in for Torres in maybe the last game, but fortunately it didn't come back to bite us. I'm sure they are amazing pl...

Re: Transfer Portal Rumor - Vawter just entered the Portal

I was just listening to Chris Plank on KREF and he had some guy named Justim on who he said is in the know on softball transfer portal .I mention that to say this: that Justin thinks Vawter is most likely going to land at OU. This would be a great "add" for the Sooners. While the foursome...

Re: Transfer Portal Rumor - Vawter just entered the Portal

FWIW: Last paragraph in SF Chronicle article 6/19 on Vawter: Vawter will have options. Three-time defending national champion Oklahoma lost pitcher Jordy Bahl, who transferred to her home-state team Nebraska, and has an opening. Vawter is a native of Kansas City, Mo., and graduated from Stanford thi...

Re: It Looks Like Taryn Kern is Headed to Washington - MAYBE NOT!

I was the first person to mention Kern on this site and my intrest was based on her awesome offensive skills . Someone then pointed out that she was an error machine at both 2b and ss . Not sure given PGs emphasis on defense thtat Kern is what Coach is looking for in her infield . Patty & JT wi...

Re: You May Want to Hold on to Your Hats - Lots of Rumors about OU Softball

I know time will tell - but I can't really imagine that Chris Plank was referring to Bahl and Nugent when he alluded to big transfer news making everyone yet again jealous of OU unless what he said we completely misconstrued and I guess that could be the case as well. Agree. I heard Plank on the Ga...

Re: Semi-Final Monday - Not too much to say - OU and FSU advances

This is true. One of the Washington's catcher's throws bounced from the back part of the pitching circle to 2B. I think we'll see them try to force some hurried throws from the infield to create baserunners.

Re: Semi-Final Monday - Not too much to say - OU and FSU advances

Great analysis, SS56. I did not notice that Canady's velo was down slightly vs. U-Dub. The fact Stanford shut down Canady for a couple of weeks in the middle part of the season (including their league series vs. UCLA) suggests there's some concern for overworking her. My guess is they'll start Vawte...

Re: Other Games WCWS Day 1

It seems like, reading/listening to the pre-game articles, podcasts, etc., that many if not all of the teams will use multiple pitchers on opening day. Since today's winners Friday off, Tennessee could throw Rogers today and bring her back Saturday -- especially if they're able to use another pitche...

Re: WCWS - Game #1 - Stanford vs Oklahoma: What I expect to see

Excellent analysis, as always, SS56. D1 Softball's Tara Henry is convinced Stanford will throw Vawter tomorrow. I agree with you that Canady will be chosen. They led with Canady in the SR, and I think they'll do it again tomorrow -- unless they're worried about a case of nerves or whatever. May as t...
