Re: a look at txtech 2024 fall softball by Lubbock rag

LHP's.
Off-Speed.
High Velo.

A trinity of analytic success for pitching (as read off the screen at that seminar). Now that the analytics secret is out, what is a program to do?

Knowing this math, it comes down to choosing and developing the pitchers that have those skills. Not sure why LHP's are ...

Re: a look at txtech 2024 fall softball by Lubbock rag

Is there an analytics ratio of pitching, fielders, and batters (offense vs defense) that will predict likely outcomes? After all, the HUGE corporate players seem to think so. (Casinos, and their analytical math/methods, are the industry to study for some top notch findings, IMO.) Why not OUSB? Data ...

Re: Schedule

Excellent points, E Man!

Love's Field, this past year, was like an away game for all who played there. No one knew how that field "played" for a period of time.

Re: Schedule

'56

Yeah, that could be right, too. Jayda and Riley had plenty of swagger to spend - and plenty of money in the bank to cash those checks.

It was Mendez who said, "We don't lose twice." I'm almost certain.

OUSB's record in the WCWS is truly amazing - both in getting there and winning it!

Very ...

Re: Schedule

Road Warriors!

(Don't anyone go spending time researching this: I wonder how the home versus away scoring and run differentials were for other teams? Do you think OUSB was uniquely a better road team? Home field advantage may be more myth than reality. I could definitely see the team being free of ...

Re: Schedule

navier,

Less than 0.25 runs per game is a comforting stat to me. Lower than I thought.

So, when the softball talking heads say/said things like, "They don't lose much here at Love's Field," I heard it as home turf gives an advantage.

Truth is that OUSB hasn't lost much anywhere lately - home or ...

Re: Schedule

You never disappoint me, inconnu.

Love that answer! I always wondered why my toes got tingly when close to Norman and OKC.

Is it called Devon Park? It might be one of those multiple name places for the multiple Natties it bestows to D1 softball teams within glow range.

Re: Schedule

In years past, it seemed clear Coach wanted to take all the tough competition she could find - fearless and enthusiastic about playing anyone anywhere anytime. As much as OUSB was criticized for playing a weak RPI schedule, etc., the list of teams willing to play them early season was like an echo ...

Re: a look at txtech 2024 fall softball by Lubbock rag

The words 'enthralled' and 'Lubbock' are rarely encountered in proximity of each other.

I'm sure Sam would have preferred OU over about any place else that offered - as you said. She seems thrilled to be in Norman - and Coach is quite happy, too. Lord knows the team needed her for 2025.

Just messin' with ya, inconnu! Ha! The Kobuk River looks very wild and beautiful...and home of the mysterious inconnu fish. You have every right to be proud!

It slipped my mind that Landry's former coach is now at TT. Yes, a candid conversation would be interesting. Do you think TT offered her, too?

Thanks, Little Fish!

From the article, seems like TT has improved as a team with more than just Canady. Good for them.

Though it is not apples to apples, I am wondering about the same situation for Ms. Bahl at Nebraska. How far can a single, uber-elite athlete take a program? My sports memory ...

Re: Newcomer Press Conferences

I agree about Dayton. She is one of those accomplished, competitive, and disciplined athletes who has a genuine, "Ah, Shucks - it's just little ol' me" vibe. She seems focused on being her best self....and humble about it.

I get the feeling some of the best players don't really care (or are not ...

Re: Sooners Sign the #1 Softball Class for 2025

This should make some aromatic material to smoke in the pipes of those who say OU is losing its allure with high school recruiting! (I have read this on other boards, not this one.)

Elite class! Pitchers. Catcher. MIF. CF. Several are multi-sport, multi-tool, multi-position athletes. Just amazing ...
