Re: Sooner Women BB on the Road @ WV: Can they win 10 in-a-row?

What is the problem with FT shooting by OU squads? 44% against WV sounds like the horrible men's team.

Nice rebounding edge for the Sooner women, but lost too many turn overs.

They are still a very good team and should do well down the stretch (unlike the men, who might gag out the season).

Re: So! What Do You Think So Far?

While this season is too early to be certain about the long run offense, the trend since Alo is decidedly down. She was a generational (or longer) player, but with new players picking up last year, it seemed like 2024 would be better than 2023 and not worse. The one person improving each year since ...

Re: Wrap-Up thoughts about the weekend @ Puerto Vallarta with 4 wins

Agree with your take Jayda is trying to do to much at the plate. She needs to take her walks and become the on base machine she has been. How many time did she gets on and not score this weekend? For 2024, Coleman has 3 hits and 1 walk and 3 runs scored. She is 3 of 16 and batting .188. Those behin...

Re: Haters gonna hate

VERY early yet. Much can change. However, from the two top teams the Sooners played, the CURRENT STORY is Maxwell as 1. May or Keeney may be two.

Re: My Thoughts and Concerns (?) From Opening Weekend

"Concerns" are reasonable even for the 1927 Yankees (during the early season, not after). May has given up 6 hits in 7 innings (would be 5 had the obstruction call been an out), but that is higher per inning than the other 4 not named Deal (7 hits in 2.2 innings). May has never been a 1 - ...

Sanders?
Yes, I believe that is correct. I think Jennings and Brito put theirs several feet over.

Re: Very early observations from this weekend

I believe Stanford dropped THREE games. Jennings is fine. Hitting well. Brito is a killer with her bat. My offensive concern is Coleman - early slump. Leading off, she sets the tone. We need her flashing that 400 average and huge OBP. Walks and errors gave OUr last two opponents runs. Pitching could...

Re: OU vs LongBeach ST game is underway

Some early-season rough edges. Good thing Brito and Jennings are on fire with some Pickering help too.

Coleman starting in a hitting slump. I sure hope these four games is the extent of it.

Re: OU - Washington: OU 4 UW 3 FINAL

In all fairness to May, without the obstruction call and all else being the same, she would've pitched 4 scoreless innings against a Top Ten team. Just sayin'. Yes. The entire play that was "obstruction" had spots where the grounder would be an out. Jennings was playing way in. Had she be...

Re: OU - Washington: OU 4 UW 3 FINAL

I finally saw the obstruction play. Tough on Hansen because the throw was low and toward the 3rd base line. Blocking the throw, she also blocked the plate. I read and re-read the rule. Blocking the base BEFORE the player has the ball is obstruction. Now the runner was not touched or impeded getting ...

Re: Josh Pate rates SEC Programs

Interesting ratings by the guy - texsa too high. LSU too high. Ole Miss too low. Missouri too low. Now, I have been complaining about the Ole Miss and MO love-fest and overrating by most, but he seems to have gone to the other extreme. For want of other choices, I would take Ole Miss as 3rd, texsa 4...

Re: OU - Duke FINAL OU 3-0

We played a top 10 team today. Any win is a good one. I was a bit frustrated by some of our missed opportunities - they were just missed, not an indication of impending doom (ha!) May, Maxwell, Monticelli, and Keeney pitched a collective shut out. Yes! How about those froshies, Pickering and Parker...

Re: Looking back at the ascension of OU softball

You have detailed the strong beginning, which set the path (2012 should've been the natty that started the run, but...)

I have to mention Shay Knighten's 17th inning HR that gave OUr Sooners a win in the SB World Series as another pivotal moment.

Re: Sooner Men's BB: Big Game against Texas Tech on Saturday @ 1 PM!

HOME loss! Yes, free throws could have (and would have) won the game.

This team will be VERY lucky to get to 500 in league play. They HAVE to win all their home games and get this week's losses back on the road - a tall order, and not likely to happen.

Re: Fallout and Which one Suffers Most

Hard to say which school suffers the most. If Harbaugh goes to the NFL, Mich will be in the running. They graduated a LOT from that NC team anyway. If they lose him and get Kelly they will be better than Washington. Don't know who LSU might grab - maybe tbow will tell the SC players that he's not go...
