I'm not sure UCLA ever got over being soul-crushed by the 14-0 steam roller we put on them earlier this year at the Mary Nutter Classic...featuring what, 3 home runs in one inning.

I was thinking that them being eliminated in their Regional took some of the shine off that victory but after reading your post I think you're right. The Sooners may have damaged them beyond repair!

When a team has MASSIVE number of runs scored against them, it tends to give them a case of long-lasting willies. For example, OU didn't appear all that powerful, nor did we seem very confident the next year after UCLA kicked our asses in the first game of the finals at the WCWS in 2019.

But if I recall....the '19 senior class graduated a bunch of hard to replace folks--Romero, Knighten, Clifton....you lost your infield right there...Rogers, Aviu, Lundberg.....there goes your outfield....and we lost Lopez--our #2 pitcher who wanted to go somewhere where she could be the face of a program....plus a couple of other players that transferred out.
That's a lot of starters and some all-americans that are gone.
2020 was going to be a rebuild year anyway and the way that year started off that was pretty apparent.

The Ragin' Cajuns send LSU packing. Louisiana moves on to the Supers. And Washington is on the ropes, trailing McNeese 4-0 in the top of the 5th.
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!

LSU was down 6-0 in the first but came back to take an 8-7 lead. In the top of the 7th Lousiana went ahead 9-8. The tying run for Lousiana came on an attempted intentional walk where the ball got past the catcher. Then another attempted walk pitch drifted over the plate and the Louisiana batter drove a base hit into the outfield. LSU couldn't intentionally walk a batter and it cost them the game. Just bizarre!

If McNeese pulls off the upset, they will play Lafayette.....a SE Louisiana I-10 Super Regional! They are closer than Norman and Stillwater! What a reward for those two teams. At least that area will get one team in WCWS.
EDIT: I jinxed McNeese! They go down to the Huskies 7-6

Huskies aren't dead yet. A 2 out 3 run double by Sami Reynolds ties it up top of the 7th.
Woof!

Huskies score 7 in the 7th to win 7-6 over McNeese. That will be a hard one for those Cowgirls to get over.
