OU vs Alabama - Pick the Score Contest
The theme of the SEC is It Just Means More. For most OU fans, football has meant more for most of their lives. And over that time there have been quite a few gut punch losses. The Oregon game with the phantom onside kick recovery comes to mind. As does the playoff loss to Georgia. Even though the stakes were much lower, our last game against Mizzou was a similar gut punch for me. I almost took the whole week off from thinking about college football (with the exception of Pick'em). It seemed to be just the break I neeeded. While I may not have my normal level of excitement about Sooner football, the stomach pains have severely lessened. Sooner football fandom is a disease with no cure, it seems.
And of coarse when you need a bounce back game, what opponent could be better than...checking notes...Alabama? Welcome to the SEC. Even before discovering that this team was snake bit in the WR room, had all of their OL portal transfers turn out to be underwhelming, and learned that their 5 star QB had a lot more to learn, the Alabama game was always going to be one of our most difficult. Despite the Crimson Tide coming in with 2 losses, it doesn't look any easier 10 games into the season. That said, my blood my runs Sooner crimson, not Alabama crimson, and I cannot pick against the home team. I don't know how they do it, but they do it.

Oh good Lord, do I have to?
How many points can OU score on offense.... (0 to 14 seems about right...sadly)
How many points can OU score on defense.... (0 to 7 seems possible)
How many points can OU score on special teams.... (0 to 7 with zero far more likely)
How many points can OU give up on defense.... (14 to 45)
How many points can OU give up on offense.... (0 to 21)
How many points can OU give up on special teams.... (0 to 14)
So...I suppose OU CAN win 28 to 14 (one time in 50) OR lose 0 to 80.
I guess I will think the offense comes close to peak at 13 and the defense does get 7. Sadly, I think the offense gives up 7 and the defense gives up at least 24.
OU 20 to 31 for Alabama in a good OU effort ("good" compared to what has come before)

Just look higher on the page. I tried to get in early before anyone else could take that score.Bixby_Sooner wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 1:34 pm I'm not picking until I see TripleOption's post on this score.

I think our defense keeps them honest through the first half and at least keeps the score within reach. Bama's defense is allowing around 325 yds/gm which is very close to where we have been against teams not named Alabama or Texas. We may be down only one or two scores at half before the defense tires out and Bama runs away with it in the 2nd half.
