Good luck to the Men today in the final round of the Regional. If the Sooners can manage the "other' scores today, they have an excellent chance to finish in the Top 5 and advance to the NCAA Finals. Ben Lorenz has a chance to finish in the Top 5 golfers also with a third solid round on Wednesday. Good luck to him. Drew Goodman is only 2 shots behind Lorenz and can move up quickly with a couple shot under par finish today.

The Oklahoma Sooners Men' Team started hot on Wednesday and stayed hot as they shot a great 11-under par, 269, on Wednesday to run away with the NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional at The Farms Golf Club to claim the team championship with a total score of 3-under par, 837 strokes. The Sooners won by a total of 6 shots over California who finished at 3-over 843, Oklahoma State and West Virginia who both finished in 3rd with a 5-over score of 845. North Florida was the fifth and final team to qualify for the NCAA Final with their 10-over score of 850.

The Sooners 11-under par was the best round of the tourney by 8 shots. The second best round was shot by North Florida in round one with their 3-under 277.

The Sooners hot start was lead by Ryder Cowan and Ben Lorenz who were both 2-under through the first five holes on the back nine 10-14 holes. The Sooners finished the back nine with a 4-under start to their round. They added 7 shots of under par golf on the back nine to finish at 11-under par. Ben Lorenz was bar far the best golfer on the course on Wednesday as he shot a sizzling 64, 6-under, round. Ryder Cowan was right behind Lorenz with a 4-under round of 66. Drew Goodman was the third golfer for the Sooners that was under par on Wednesday with a 2-under, 68. After carding a 'snowman-8' on his second hole of his round, Luke Kluver battled back to shoot a 1 -over par on Wednesday to be the fourth score for the Sooner team with his 71. He was 3-under on the next 16 holes to rebound very well after that quad-bogey on #11. Jase Summy shot a 3-over, 73 on Wednesday.

Ben Lorenz won the individual title for the Regional with his 8-under final score of 202. Drew Goodman finished in a tie for 9th at 1-over 211. Ryder Cowan finished at 2-over, 212 in a tie for 11th. Luke Kluver and Jase Summy both finished at 7-over, 217 to finish in a tie for 31st.

Wednesday for the Sooners was their best day and round of the season, when they needed it.

Head coach Ryan Hybl said after the win, "We've been waiting all year for a round like we had today. I'm just so proud of and happy for our guys, who have worked hard all year long. For them to see the fruits of their labor could not have come at a better time. We knew we'd need a big-time day and we got exactly that."

With the win, the Sooners advance to the NCAA Finals at the Championship Course at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. that will be held on May 24-29. The championships will be contested at Omni La Costa for the first time, with teams playing 54 holes of stroke play before the 30-team field is cut to 15. The last 15 teams play one final round of stroke play before the top eight teams advance to match play. Oklahoma has won two national championships (1989 and 2017) and finished runner-up in 2021.

Congratulations to the Sooner Team on their great round on Wednesday and their Regional win. Oklahoma now has seven all-time wins at NCAA Regionals, and advance to the NCAA Finals for the 13th consecutive season.

For Luke Kluver to shoot 1-over with an 8 on his card is really amazing. I've carded plenty of snowmen, and they always lead to further poor play. Truly impressive to overcome the mental nightmare of a quadruple bogie. Great win for the team! They will need to bring that game with them to the Finals.
