Bottom post of the previous page:

I hope I,m wrong in my questioning the hiring of Littrell . Lebby leaving was horrible timing for us with recruiting signing day so close.
I think BV had to make a decision quick in filling that spot. JMOHOP. We fans have no clue to what system they plan to run.
I hope I,m wrong but if the timing of Lebby leaving would have been a lot earlier & BV did not have to rush his decision, we might
have a very high profile OC now. The old saying is (Timing is everything). But BV had to fill that spot Quick. We shall see. I know
Littrell kept the offense simple for this game. But make 1 first down in 12 try’s? Let,s wait & see.

Any HC worth their salt has an idea of replacements he considers quality hires.
I would guess Brent had Seth on his list.
If I am wrong, shame on Brent.

Littrell was already on staff I believe?....maybe for a reason?
Opinions are still "OK" ...Correct?

Well I hope you are right! Maybe that is case. I truly hope I ,m wrong about Littrell & with me it is just based on a feeling. I most
Likely should have not posted that. I have nothing to base that on other than the poor performance our offense showed Friday night.

BV KNEW he was replacing Lebby the Wednesday after the Saturday Briles walked on to Owen Field!

BV hired a veteran OC that had HC experience - a smarter move than hiring Lebby in the first place.

As far as the game, it was the first game of the year. It came with THREE top WRs injured (after Farooq went out early). It came with multiple injuries on the OL. It came with four dropped passes. It came against a terrible opponent so Littrell could (and did) experiment with players while calling commonly seen plays. It came with a new QB that he wanted to see make a range of short to medium passes for experience rather than hit three or four long ones.

I believe he learned a lot. I also believe our future opponents learned nothing. Hopefully some of the WRs learned to run their 3rd down routes across the line to gain. And hopefully, some of the OL injuries heal and OU has an actual center play center.
texsa sucks!

Fly..did you recognize that my post above was satire?

People worried about the Oline after 1 game have not watched the last 20 years of Sooner football.

The play call may be great but if the players don't do their job it will fail.

I'm with Pokerman !!! All things being equal, I like Seths Offense better. You gotta have a Center, if not the O scheme you run doesn't matter. That being said I think BB will eventually work it out like usual .. the ride may be a little bumpy at times, hopefully the D can continue to pick up the slack!

And if the band has to be on the field to play Boomer Sooner as the team comes out of the locker room, as it always should and never should have been kept from doing, then so be it. It got the crowd into the game from the get go, which the electronic noise from the scoreboard never has and never will.

Just out of curiosity" how long have you been attending OU games?Just asking for my own curiosity...nothing dismal or sarcastic at All.You certainly strike me as a fan who has long attended game as many of us have but you post with a different persona than some pertaining to gametime activities....video board,music...etc....just curious?
Since 1964. I remember when everyone in the stands was there to help the team win the game and nothing else. I remember virtually every time we really did, or almost did, too, including a couple away from Norman. I used to go to almost all the away games also, but have slowed to a crawl with those in recent years. Yeah, it's the Jimmys and the Joes, but the fans can and should make a difference -- if they aren't too spoiled and aren't too distracted by all the bells, toys and whistles that hinder our ability to do so these days. Just my opinion, I could be wrong (but I know better). ;)

ALWAYS Share your thoughts !!!! I enjoy hearing whats on your mind. My preference for what Seth runs is based on pure Football Nerd preference for an Air Raid type offense vs a Veer Based Offense from the Briles era. I like the Quick out routes past the LOS where you pick up 2-3 yards .. vs attaching the LOS and half the time it seemed with Lebby those would end up zero or negative. With all that being said, after the starting center went out Saturday , we saw very little of that quick AirRaid because the OLine was not playing well. Who knows at this point ?? You are absolutely correct to be concerned. We need to see a complete game from Littrell's offense, which hasn't happened yet. There were flashes in the Bowl game ( too many turn overs) and Saturday the D ran the show.

I dont think you will see Littrel’s true offense till the Tennessee game. Maybe Tulane will push us and we have to use the full offense then IDK.

I just think we are trying to play the long game in regard to putting our offense and tendencies on tape….

Yes we do appear to be playing the very Stoops-like as plain a vanilla offense as possible early in the season.

The reference to Stoops is correct. I recall many early season games when this board was up in arms about the lack of offensive production. Stoops was notorious for "shutting it down" and "not showing anything" early, particularly in the Bradford - Jones - Knight period. Then in the Texas game, we would start running misdirection / counters and pulling linemen, and bust out a real running game. It will probably be the Tennessee game before we see more creativity in the scheme. Just my "rose-colored" opinion, but I'm not too worried about the scheme.

I am worried about the health (and talent) of the O-line. We won't really have enough information on that concern until after the Texas game.

I still have us as a 1-2 loss team, but all hinges on the Tennessee - Auburn - Texas stretch of games.
