OU vs Tennessee - Pick the Score Contest
Well just like the improvement that the Sooner's offense showed against Tulane last week, the Pick the Score contestants also showed a much improved week. Our winner, K2C Sooner hit the Sooner score exactly and was only 2 point's off on Tulane's score. Two other pickers, SoonerLynx and formulaS were off by a total of 3 points. Here are our year to date winners:
Game 1 winner: waddy's ghost 52-3. Actual score 51-3
Game 2 winner: SoonerTony, 38-9. Actual score 16-12
Game 3 winner: K2C Sooner 34-17. Actual score 34-19
Game 4 apparently "just means more", because the Sooners play not only a really good Tennessee team, they do so as their first ever SEC conference game. Leading the Volunteers onto Owen Field, this time from the visitor's locker room, is the last QB to lead OU to a national championship. As much as I like Josh Heupel, I really wish we could have raised another crystal football since his. However that was 24 years ago, and if college football is anything, it is a "what have you done for me lately" sport. And what Josh has done lately is restore a beaten down Tennessee team to top 5 status, so this week he is the enemy. Based on the first 3 games that they have played, Tennessee looks nearly unbeatable, but so did the undefeated Patriots many years back against the NY Giants. That's why you play the games! OU has a pretty good defense, and the offense is starting to gain a little confidence. And there is a chance that some of our injured players could be back in the game. No matter, I'll pick a Sooner's win regardless. I've seen too much Sooner Magic in my life. Harkening back to a sweet day in Columbus 47 years ago, the Sooners pull off a miracle finish with a long field goal, although this time the home fans won't be chanting "Block that kick!"
