Arbuckle new OC?

Post by soonerindallas »

Saw a story that says that OU has "reached an agreement with Ben Arbuckle (OC at Washington State) to be our OC. Has anyone heard that? What are your thoughts? I don't really know anything about him.

I believe this will be a great hire for :ou: He's experienced as a play caller and QB coach. Get ready for better days ahead! :BV: :dillon:

...was pretty sure we'd know who by today or tomorrow.

Venables will have the youngest pair of Coordinators in the SEC, maybe college football.

Welcome back Air Raid.

...games with Wazu I've watched this year, their offense has waxed hot & cold
Usually a good first Half, but bogged down a couple of times in the 2nd.

Brent's call, his tenure at OU depends on his trust in Arbuckle to get it done offensively.
I'm behind the hire. (Couldn't be any worse than we've seen this season)

Wondering if Arbuckle brings his QB John Mateer with him?

Not that it means anything since Wikipedia can be easily edited by just about anyone, but if you look at his page there, it lists his current position as Offensive Coordinator - Oklahoma

JJF did a great job tonight. Maybe all the pieces came together. Maybe we don't need a new OC.

Not going to win many games with less than 100 yards passing. Great gameplan tonight to run it down their throats, but the defense is what made the W possible.

As you said, anyone can edit Wikipedia. Looks like it has been edited again since your copy-and-paste:
Ben Arbuckle
Current position
Title Offensive coordinator
Team oklahoma state university
Conference Big 12
Also note that your original C&P showed that Oklahoma was in the PAC 12... I wouldn't put too much credence in what you are reading in Wiki.

My thoughts?
Makes me think of the Southern Oklahoma Arbuckle "mountains" and the summer I spent at Camp Classen as a kid. Good times!

Fun fact: I've read that at their tallest, the Arbuckle Mountains likely reached about 10,000 feet. How about that! I'm almost old enough to have been around then lol.

Also makes me sad thinking about those hideous windmills on the wind-facing south edge of the Arbuckles. Makes the hills look small. Sometime during the next ten years those windmills will have to be "retired" and just be an eyesore and the decaying blades, machinery will become an enviro-hazard. Whatever agreement the landowner made with the windmill owners probably did not include cleanup and remediation.

Back in the day, Roy Rogers made a movIe on the Flying L Ranch with scenes at Turner Falls. The film title is, "Home in Oklahoma." You can watch it on Youtube. So a connection between Roy Rogers and the Arbuckle Mountains. In 1947, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers were married in a ceremony at the Flying L Ranch.

Oh, yeah - didn't Mike Leach and Alex Grinch both have successful stints at Washington State?
Another fun fact - WSU fans are known for drinking more beer than any other fan base.

He's an AirRaid guy. SL was supposed to be an AirRaid OC, though I never saw it in any of his play calling. Apparently BV wants to go back to Air Raid. Which to be fair Leach was fairly successful with it a MSU, which is not, nor ever has been an SEC power. Thats all I know. He's Young and Hopefully will stick around 2-3 years if he's successful. I had high hopes for SL, so I'm not gonna get excited, this time, until I see the product on the field.

So it looks like Joe Craddock freed up last night, as well as Arbuckle after Sat....
And with signing day coming up soon....do we think these are the three most likely candidates at this point?

Arbuckle
Craddock
Mullen

Others?
