The #3 Oklahoma Sooners Men's Gymnastics Team will open their Spring season at 2 PM in McCasland Field House against #9 Air Force on Sunday, January 12th. The Sooners trail Stanford at #1 and Michigan at #2 to open the season.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to participate in the first responder Touch A Truck event at 12:30 p.m. and for introductions at 1:45 p.m.
Sunday is OU's Hometown Heroes meet. Fans can interact with first responder vehicles outside on Brooks Mall beginning at 12:30 p.m. The first 250 fans inside the field house can receive OU men's gymnastics hero buttons.
The meet will be televised on ESPN+ with OU alumni and national champions Bart Conner and Matt Wenske on the call. Live scoring will be available via OUStats.com.
Oklahoma's season opener on Sunday will mark the debut of new rules in NCAA men's gymnastics. This season, all NCAA men's gymnastics meets will feature four-up, four-count competition (four gymnasts compete on each event and all four scores count toward the team score). The 2025 campaign will also be the first of the new Olympic quad under FIG's updated code of points, featuring updated skill values. Most routines (except vault) will require eight skills, rather than the 10 required previously.
The "four-up, four count" rule will require that a gymnasts on the Rings, the Pommell, the Parallel Bars, the High Bar and even the Vault produce a 'good' score without a fall or break in the event. 1 score

I wish Sooner fans had more interest into our gymnastics program. I do not keep up with it as I should. But we have had one of
The best programs in the country for year. I truly like watching it. But yes these athletes deserve more from us than we give.![🪰](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1fab0.svg)

The Oklahoma Men's Gymnastics Team performed in their first meet of the Spring at McCaslnd Field House on Sunday in a 2 PM Match with Air Force. The results were excellent as the Sooners posted a 318.200 score to better Air Force's 299.000 for the first Win of the season. In addition to that, the 318.200 posted by Oklahoma is the best mark this seaosn by any team. In addition to that, the Sooners performed with four returning All-Americans, which can only help the team score down the road. It as a very good opening meet.
"I thought that was a good start to the season," Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams said. "We had pretty good performances throughout. We were down a couple of guys, so it was good to see some guys get opportunities and step up to the challenge. I was pleased overall with our performance. There are obviously a few things we can be working on as we head into the Rocky Mountain Open. We're looking forward to maybe getting a couple of guys back to be a part of that first road trip. Overall, it looks like we have the top score from the weekend, and hopefully we can just continue to get better from that score as the season progresses."
Oklahoma also posted the top score in each of the 6 events on Sunday against Air Force. Senior Brigham Frentheway won the floor exercise title with a 13.700, junior Ignacio Yockers won the pommel horse title with a 14.450, senior Matthew Burgoyne won still rings with a 13.700, redshirt freshman Arthur Ballon won vault with a 14.300, sophomore Tyler Flores won parallel bars with a 13.350 and redshirt freshman Brandon Zepeda-Orth won horizontal bar with a 13.500.
The four returning All-Americans from the 2024 NCAA Finals (redshirt junior Fuzzy Benas, senior Emre Dodanli and sophomores Max Bereznev and Nico Hamilton), who were not in the lineup due to injury or injury recovery.
Oklahoma swept all six team event titles as well, scoring higher than 50.000 on every event. OU scored 54.250 on floor exercise, 51.650 on pommel horse, 53.700 on still rings, 55.850 on vault, 52.100 on parallel bars and 51.650 on horizontal bar.
