The 14th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (10-8 and 29-11) will be in Athens, GA to play the 10th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (10-8 and 33-10) in a Thursday, Friday, Saturday series. The series opener Thursday at 6 p.m. CT will be shown to a national audience on ESPNU with Keith Moreland and Lance Cormier on the call. Friday's 5 p.m. matchup can be seen via SECN+ with Matt Stewart and Jason Jacobs calling the action before Moreland and Cormier return for Saturday's 11 a.m. finale on SEC Network. All games this weekend can be heard on the radio in Oklahoma on 99.3 FM/1400 AM The REF or nationwide on The Varsity app with Toby Rowland and OU alum Kendall Pettis calling the action.
The Sooners face a key seires this weekend against Georgia as both teams are 10-8 and in a 3-way tie for 6th Place with Ole Miss in the SEC. OU has four SEC series remaining this season with a series at #10 Georgia, a seiers at home against #23 Ole Miss, a series at Kentucky and a series back home in a Red River Rivalry matchup with #1 Texas. The Sooners will need a couple series wins in the final four weekends to remain above .500 in SEC conference play. If they can do that, they should be one of the top 8 teams come SEC Tourney time.
Here is the complete preview article about the Georgia series written by the Sooner staff writers:

The Sooners and Bulldogs meet for the first time on the baseball diamond this weekend in the history of the two programs. UGA has six CWS appearances to OU's 11 and one national title to the Sooners' two.
Probable Pitching Matchups:
TH: OU RHP Kyson Witherspoon (7-2, 2.48 ERA) vs. UGA RHP Brian Curley (2-1, 3.40 ERA);
FRI: OU LHP Cade Crossland (3-2, 5.62 ERA) vs. UGA TBA;
SAT: OU RHP Malachi Witherspoon (3-4, 5.32 ERA) vs. UGA RHP Leighton Finley (2-1, 5.63 ERA).
Here is the stat rundown for the two teams:
OU offense: .293 BA, .408 OB%, .485 Slug%, 7.48 Runs/G, 74 doubles, 14 triples, 50 HRs, 96 of 116 steals and a 26.18 TBPlus per Game.
GA offense: .294 BA, .425 OB%, .574 Slug%, 8.91 Runs/G, 80 doubles, 4 triples, 105 HRs, 50 of 56 steals and a 29.19 TBPlus per Game.
As you can see the two teams are both pretty good offensively, but Georgia does hit twice the amount of HRs and they do score about 1.5 more runs per game. Oklahoma steals about twice as many bases. It would help if OU can find a little extra power this weekend also.
OU Pitching & Defense: 4.28 ERA, 4.78 Runs Allowed/Game, .245 BAA, .342 OB%A, .370 Slug%A - 56-7-31 EBH-A - 36 of 50 SB-A - 19.08 TBPlus per Game - 39 errors - .972%
GA Pitching & Defense: 4.94 ERA, 5.09 Runs Allowed/Game, .231 BAA, .343 OB%A, .401 Slug%A - 63-9-51 EBH-A - 39 of 53 SB-A - 20.35 TBPlus per Game - 28 errors - .982%
I think the Sooner pitching is better than Georgia's. I think the key in the 3-game series will be for OU to keep the ball in the ball park and for OU to make the most of the opportunites with runners in scoring position. Georgia's control and amount of walks that the Sooners draw is probably their concern this weekend. Gerogia also plays good defense.
Hopefully Oklahoma continues their strong play on the road as that are 6-3 as the visitors in SEC play. A series win by OU would be a very positive thing this weekend.
Good luck to the Sooners in Athens.
