(*) indicates teams OU has played this season

Here is the schedule for the week:

Thursday - Oct 10th:
  • Mississippi State at Georgia -> With very similar styles, this match will be interesting to see who can manage a win. I think Georgia may be more able to score with the duo of fowards. I think I wil take Georgia in this one in an upset.
  • Florida at South Carolina -> If the rankings and RPI are right, South Carolina wins easy at home.
  • Alabama at Auburn -> The battle of the state should end with an Auburn win.
  • Tennessee at Arkansas -> Both teams have only lost 1 match this season. Arkansas is ranked and can score. At home, I wil take Arkansas to win this one.
  • LSU at Kentucky -> The two teams are tied in the SEC standings. Kentucky has the higher RPI and is ranked. Kentucky at home seems to be the choice
.
  • Vanderbilt at Texas A&M -> A&M should win this one in College Station.
  • Ole Miss at Missouri -> Ole Miss is winless in the SEC, they have a chance to win against Missouri, It is a toss-up but Missouri at home has the advantage.
  • Oklahoma at Texas -> For the first time in a while, Texas is not ranked. The Sooners actually have the higher RPI ranking. Oklahoma needs the points, any points, but they need to stop Missimo and Villarreal on defense. A Sooner win would be a huge win. Let's hope for just that.
Sunday - October 13th:

Auburn at Tennessee ->
South Carolina at Ole Miss ->
Arkansas at Oklahoma ->
Georgia at Florida ->
Texas at LSU ->
Kentucky at Vanderbilt ->
Texas A&M at Alabama ->
Missouri at Mississippi State ->

I will provide thoughts about these matches on Saturday....

Here are the results from play on Thursday in the SEC:

Thursday - Oct 10th:

Mississippi State at Georgia -> With very similar styles, this match will be interesting to see who can manage a win. I think Georgia may be more able to score with the duo of fowards. I think I wil take Georgia in this one in an upset. --> Georgia scored in the 2nd minute of play to take the early lead. But Mississippi State scored two 2nd half goals to win the match and stay in a 1st Place tie in the SEC.

Florida at South Carolina -> If the rankings and RPI are right, South Carolina wins easy at home. --> South Carolina broke a 0-0 tie with 2 goals in the last 12 minutes to win 2-0.

Alabama at Auburn -> The battle of the state should end with an Auburn win. --> The two teams traded goals in 8 minutes of time early in the 2nd half to produce the 1-1 tie.

Tennessee at Arkansas -> Both teams have only lost 1 match this season. Arkansas is ranked and can score. At home, I wil take Arkansas to win this one. --> Arkansas won the match 5-0 over Tennesse as they doubled the shot total by Tennessee.

LSU at Kentucky -> The two teams are tied in the SEC standings. Kentucky has the higher RPI and is ranked. Kentucky at home seems to be the choice. --> Kentucky won 2-1. LSU tied it up at 1-1 in the 73rd minute but Kentucky scored the game winner in the 85th minute.

Vanderbilt at Texas A&M -> A&M should win this one in College Station. --> Vanderbilt pulled off the upset of the week in the SEC with their 2-0 win on the road over Texas A&M.

Ole Miss at Missouri -> Ole Miss is winless in the SEC, they have a chance to win against Missouri, It is a toss-up but Missouri at home has the advantage. --> Missourri had a goal scoring party against Ole Miss as they won 5-0 at home.

Oklahoma at Texas -> For the first time in a while, Texas is not ranked. The Sooners actually have the higher RPI ranking. Oklahoma needs the points, any points, but they need to stop Missimo and Villarreal on defense. A Sooner win would be a huge win. Let's hope for just that. --> Texas dominated the ball and won 1-0 over OU as the Texas GK stopped a PK late in the game in an attempt to tie the score.

I did learn one thing last night from watching the broadcast. I had thought that the top 10 teams advance to the SEC post-season tourney based upon the 2023 Tourney. With 16 teams in the SEC now with OU and Texas joining, the top 12 teams make the tourney in 2024. Currently OU is tied for 14th, but just two points from 11th.
