Didja Ever Have a Song/Tune Pop into your Head?

Post by BudaSooner »

... and you cannot remember when or where you heard it? Or who sang it?

In that vein, I have a candidate that I will ask the other readers of this forum to assist me in coming up with an answer. BTW, I'm not optimistic that anyone can help, in that I have already Googled the following stanza with no luck.

- - First, a confession: I often, while driving down the road, will have - from thin air - a song pop into my mind. Most of the time, I remember the source or time that the song was popular.
But the other day, while the wife and I were driving back from my son's house and we passed a housing addition named Shady Hollow, this song/lyrics popped into my head:

(I only remembered the first four lines of this stanza - I am unable to provide the tune on a message board, unfortunately) ;)

Oh, down in Shady Hollow, land of Martin and McCoy
Lived a mighty likely shaver by the name of Roy.
He had a lilting voice like a lark in Spring,
And for miles around, they came to hear him sing!

And that's it. Don't remember any more of the song...

The wife asked me, "Where did you hear that song?"

And my response, "I dunno, wish that I could remember"...

Does anyone else remember that song?

...don't remember that particular song, but there was a song that used to recur in my memory that I struggled to recall from Jr High (now Middle School) days.

Found it somehow surfing YouTube.

It was titled Too Much to Dream by the Electric Prunes!

Might try scouring YouTube, Buda.

I did, at your suggestion. No results. I know that I didn't imagine the song or lyrics, I am certain of the tune and the words. Frustrating.
