Torres plays 3B for the Sooners in 2023. She was a SS for Arizona State.

Torres has started at SS for the Sun Devils for 3 years. Her career numbers are .327 BA, .397 OB% and a .666 Slug% with 24 doubles 1 triple and 37 HRs. She has a .940-ish fielding % while playing SS.

Those are better numbers than Johns for their careers. Johns does have a higher OB% however. I think Torres will solidify the 3B position for the Sooners for the two remaining years that she has left. She is in the same class as J Coleman, Jennings, May and Brito.

Looking at her Bio on the ASU site...She's from Glendale, AZ, which is a suburb of Phoenix. Not the same high school as Lyons and Erickson. Doesn't say what travel ball team she was on (but it was in Tucson), but she has to know Lyons pretty well. One year younger, recruited by Oklahoma out of high school.

She wore #40 for ASU. Apparently, it's her dad's nickname.

Here's an interview with her at the beginning of the 2021 season. https://sports360az.com/2021/02/get-to- ... ah-torres/

I have heard that Lyons and Torres were the two best SS in the Phoenix area growing up. From what I heard, Coach Gasso chose the arm of Lyons over the bat of Torres. Now Lyons has the better bat also. Nice call by Coach Gasso.

Torres and Hansen also have a relationship as in a friendly rivalry from summer ball teams.

Any thoughts on players entering the portal with what looks like maybe a lock on 3rd base?

:ou: From what I heard, this has been in the works for several days. I wander if Patty goes after Cydney Sanders. She has some home run power as a freshman was in the running fot National Freshman of the year

If Cydney Sander is in the portal, all hands on deck. She’s an all american, proven in college. You know Patty is working the phone. You don’t turn down an AA if she wants to come here.

:ou: :ou: I saw an article on extra innings softball that Cydney Sanders entered the portal. With Addison Barnard from Wiichita State not available. Cydney would be a real nice get. In a interview with Al Eschbach a few days ago before they were able to announce Storako, Patty said our pitching staff is all set now. She on to say they want to add some some power in the portal but they hadnt jumped in yet because if you jump on the first player, then someone real good enters you miss out. This was before Sanders entered the portal. I would think Patty is all over this. She said when the pitcher they got entered the portal, she was a no brainer, they wanted on it immediately.
Patty also said they will be loaded next year. There will lots of real good players competing for very small amount of opportunity.
