Here is the Sooner Women's BB report on the first part of the their European Trip that will conclude with three games this week. They will play games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday before returning to the Oklahoma.

It will be interesting to see how the 5 new players 'fit' into the puzzle pieces for the very deep Oklahoma Sooners Women's Basketball team. the 5 new players are;

#20 - Aubrey Joens - Guard - 5'8" transfer from Iowa State.
#5 - Kiersten Johnson - Forward - 6'4" - Freshman
#0 - Beatrice Culliton - Center - 6'3" - Freshman
#11 - Kayla Cooper - Guard - 5'8" - Freshman
#2 - Reyna Scott - Guard - 5'9" - Freshman

In conversations with Madi Williams and Ana Llanusa about the pre-trip practices, Johnson, Cooper, Scott, Joens were mentioned as players that the veterans were impressed by.

The staff writers article about the 73-60 WIN in the first game for the Women's BB Team against Roanne Basket is below.

I think it is good to see the 5'9" Freshman Guard, Reyna Scott, assert herself in her first game with 14 points and 9 rebounds. A big guard that can play will be an asset that they did not have last season. for the Sooners. The picture above the article is her shooting the ball. She looks to be solidly built and not frail at all. that should help against big guards as well. It sounds like the three players from last year that lead the way down the stretch, Williams, Vann and Robertson played well also. I can also see Llanusa on the bench not in uniform so she is not playing yet. Williams must have put on a show of her talent in the 4th quarter when the Sooners took the ball to her. Joens may be deadly on the outside if the opponents try to double Robertson, or focus on Robertson outside.

Hopefully we will see newcomers Joens, Culliton, Johnson and Cooper in the game rundown in the final two games. Returners, Washington, Tot, Tucker, Liz Scott and Perkins would be nice to see highlighted as well.

The Sooners next game is on Thursday against Lithuania U23.

The Oklahoma Sooners Women's Basketball team defeated the Lithuania National Team on Thursday night by the score of 90-73. Here is the staff writers article about the win.

https://soonersports.com/news/2022/8/11 ... uania.aspx

The quarter scores were as follows, 27-19, 44-39, 71-57, 90-73. The Sooners had two 27 point quarters offensively. That sounds like the same pace that the Sooners played in 2021-22 which lead to a be turnaround season.

Robertson, Liz Scott and Tot all received strong mentions about their play in the article. Newcomers Reyna Scott (freshman guard) and Kiersten Johnson (freshman F-C) also were mentioned.

The Sooners close out their trip with a game tonight against the same Lithuanian National Team tonight.
