Selmon Statue
Oklahoma will be honoring Bucs/USF legend Lee Roy Selmon this weekend by unveiling a statue outside the stadium.
The statue is of the late Selmon and his brothers, former Sooners defensive stars Lucious and Dewey. They combined for 915 tackles (96 for a loss) and 16 fumble recoveries in their 96 starts at Oklahoma. Lucious and Dewey and Lee Roy’s family will be honored at halftime of the Kansas State game.
Lee Roy Selmon was a Pro Football Hall of Famer with the Bucs before serving as USF’s athletic director and helping launch the football program. He died in 2011.

Hard to believe it’s been 11 years since he passed.
Is Lee Roy the greatest Sooner ever? I say yes.

I won't disagree. I would have to share the glory with Waymon Tisdale though. Both died way to young.SoonerTony wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:36 pm Hard to believe it’s been 11 years since he passed.

My generation only...

Football maybe but I would likely have to say overall contributions to their sport Courtney Paris, Anastasia Webb or Jocelyn Alo might have had more of an impact than Lee Roy.SoonerTony wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:36 pm Hard to believe it’s been 11 years since he passed.

There are way too many OU greats to make up a list of football players. The Selmon brothers are the greatest of the players who played together at OU, I don't think that could be challenged. Granville Liggins was one of the better NG back in the 1960s. He was pretty darn good and fast, like a cat.
