Do we have any information about what high school Ella Parker attends? Interested to see if she goes back to pitching for her HS senior season.

I saw this date posted elsewhere and I am trusting that it is correct.

Coach Gasso should have 4 Class of 2023 players sign their National Letter of Intent with the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday.

Those players are:

Kasidi Pickering, OF from Texas. I think Pickering will be something rare for the Sooners. A power hitting, great defense, LH-hitting outfielder (probably CF) after Coleman moves on. Pickering could start in 2024 and probably will win a job as a freshman. I can not imagine a better defensive OF for the Sooners than what Boone, Coleman and Pickering could be in 2024.

Nellian McEnroe-Marinas, SS, Hawaii. M&M should be in the mix in 2024 for a starting job at 2B, SS or 3B for the Sooners with Lyons moving on. As the player I know the least about, I will be very interested to see her play as a Sooner. I think she could be a surprise as a Sooner. She hits from the right side and can hit for average and power with speed and very good defense.

Ella Parker, OF/ DP/ LHP, California, Parker is now a good LF, good LH-hitting power hitter that has been in the OC Batbuster program for a while. She used to be an accomplished LH pitcher also. But, I believe she did not pitch last summer for the Batbusters. for now, that part of Parker's game is unsure currently as a Sooner. But Parker can still be impressive as a Sooner player and she should challenge for playing time in 2024 also.

Maya Bland, OF/ UT*, California. I think the best way to think of Bland's talents is to compare her to Reagan Rogers. But Bland is a better player than Rogers was a freshman. Bland arrives in Norman probably equal to Rogers as a Junior. Bland is a speedy LH hitter than can play just about anywhere except catcher. Bland is the original Class of 2023 recruit that I heard about that is still going to be a Sooner. You have to respect that about Bland. Bland will grow into her game as a Sooner. The more you see of Bland, the better she gets.

Looking forward to Wednesday.

'56, you inquired of SIL whether Parker was still going to pitch. Thank you for asking that question....I am very interested in any response he gets. If she in fact has opted out of the circle, then, of course, that makes Reimer even more important.

Here are the thumbnail comments by Extra Innings Softball about the Sooner Class of 2023 Softball Commits. These rankings were completed yesterday by EIS.

T-3—Ella Parker, P/OF, OC Batbusters – Stith (Oklahoma) - Throws: Left, Bats: Right - (Top 4 players in the country)
Ella is coming off another stellar year and continually proves why she is a franchise-type player who can do so much for a team. Ella not only was a dominant force for her Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) High team—where she hit .651 with a .768 on-base percentage and had 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 11 steals— but she was also a key member on the Batbusters run to the Alliance 18U National Championship. The future Sooner combines power and speed from the 3-hole in ways that practically no one in her class can replicate. Says one West Coast scout: “Ella is poised to make yet another huge impact in her senior season that will help give her team a chance at defending the Batbusters’ 2022 National Championship.” Athletically, she excels at everything she does from track to water polo to softball and could be/should be another great in OU’s line game-changing athletes.

T-4—Kasidi Pickering, OF/SS Hotshots Premier National – Nelson (Oklahoma) - Throws: Right, Bats: Left - (Top 4 players in the country)
Kasidi has been a bright light in her class for years and continues to impress as shown by this summer when she batted .448 in 40 games with a .481 on-base percentage and led Coach Nate Nelson’s powerful team in slugging percentage (.781), OPS (1.263), RBIs (41), and home runs (7), The powerful offensive weapon also contributed 22 runs scored, seven doubles, and 15 steals but is also spectacular playing defense where she, according to one coach, “is always relied on as a team leader on a loaded 18U roster.” She also has a strong arm and had eight assists for her Atascocita (Humble, Texas) High team while only making two errors in 34 games for a .982 offensive percentage. Her offensive numbers were also daunting as Kasidi batted .608 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs and struck out just four times in 122 plate appearances. Not surprisingly, she was walked frequently—23 times—to give her a .689 on-base percentage, a 1.195 slugging mark and a 1.885 OPS.

T-6—Nellian McEnroe-Marinas, SS, Firecrackers – Brashear (Oklahoma) - Throws: Right, Bats: Right - (Top 12 players in the country)
Nellian, or “Nelly” as she’s also called, is the top prospect in Hawaii in her class and is drawing comparisons to another product from the Islands you may have heard of: Jocelyn Alo, the former Oklahoma Sooner record-setting slugger. Nelly can take over a game on offense and defense and wowed everyone watching at the Alliance National Qualifier for Sean Brashear’s team when she hit seven home runs. The athletic and versatile shortstop helped lead her Maryknoll (Honolulu, Hawaii) High team to an ILH state championship in 2021 as she batted .583 with eight home runs and looks to have lightning strike twice in being the next great slugger at OU. They’re alike in another way too as both Alo and McEnroe-Marinas are 5-foot-8.

T-11—Maya Bland, OF/UT, OC Batbusters 18U – Stith/Maroon (Oklahoma) - Throws: Right, Bats: Left - (Top 31 players in the country)
Maya is a five-tool athlete who can play anywhere on the field and came up big with key plays at the plate during Mike Stith’s team’s National Championship run this summer. A great plug-and-play option who can start or come off the bench without missing a beat, the Sooner commit has dangerous power in her bat with the athleticism to play anywhere on the field. Along with this year’s strong national campaign for the Batbusters, Maya has been in the organization for several years and had top finishes in events such as the World Fastpitch Championship and PGF Nationals dating back to her 12U days. Before the contact rules went into place, Maya verbally committed to the Sooners in the 7th grade after getting heavy interest from Power 5 schools nationwide. After playing two high school varsity years in So Cal, she moved to Argyle, Texas where she had a huge junior campaign in 2022 hitting over .500 while leading the team in home runs.
