The EIS Positional Rankings for the 2023 Recruiting Class of the Sooners looks to be very good.

While I do not really understand why EIS is still ranking Parker as a Pitcher - Primary, maybe we will as the remainder of 2022-2023 roll out. I think if they place Parker in the Pitcher - DUO meaning that the pitcher hits also, she would still be ranked as high as #3 there.

I am not surprised by the rankings below by McEnroe-Marinas and Pickering. Both are going to be very good. Bland received a higher ranking than I expected which is great.

I know this list of positions is not conclusive as OU did not recruit a C or a 1B/3B in this class. If you look at the P - MiF - OF positions, There are three teams that have Top 10 players in each group. Those three teams are Oklahoma, Florida and Florida State. Teams that have 2 positions covered are Arizona, California, Tennessee, LSU, I think that indicates the class is pretty good for the Sooners. I know we have Catcher covered with Hansen/Erickson/Nugent for the 2024 season. With superior players at C, MIF, CF and Pitcher, you have a pretty good shot at being very good. Oklahoma does have the most player in the Top 10 with 4 players listed.

Question for '56.....
I came across a thread on another site posing a question regarding our future recruits that you responded to and I have a question regarding that...
You said you have a system to rank recruiting classes and for '23, and for incoming recruit Ella Parker you had these numbers:
86 - 15 LHP/OF Ella Parker

What I'm wondering is it looks like the ranking for her is based on her being both a LHP and and OF. I've been curious about whether she really will pitch for us, so I've tried to find and follow the MaxPreps stats for her Senior yr in HS, and so far this year, she has only thrown 2 outs all season.
Does her ranking change if she comes to OU only as an OF? Or is her ranking solid regardless?
Asking out of curiosity but also looking ahead to how our pitching staff will be shaping up when we move to the SEC and we will have lost Storako and May by that time. Looks like it would be Bahl, Deal, Geurin, and....????
Thanks in advance....

I suppose you were referring to the 86 - 15 references before her name.

Those numbers refer to the # of points I assign to her '86' for her ranking of '15". I just use the inverse of the Top 100 ranking to assign value.

Thank you for checking and finding that she has pitched 0.2 innings this year in High School. Believe it or not, I am happy about that. I am sure it is taking time for her to be ready to pitch after laying off a year. I know it is not much but she did pitch. (Yes a very low level, but she was in the circle.)

As to her ranking, from what was written in the early rankings for Parker, they were based upon her pitching and pitching well. The hitting part of her ranking was also important to. I was probably a 60-40 ranking for pitching and hitting. I would say that her hitting and defensive play at 1B and LF/RF have improved quite a bit since those early rankings. I think she is one of the top hitters in the class. This summer will be important for her and her pitching, if she does. The final rankings by EIS and SA should be out during the late spring/summer. We will see how they treat Parker.

Thanks a lot '56.....I really appreciate your thoughts and observations.

I guess the real substance will be if she pitches this summer in travel ball.
I don't have any way of tracking that....so I guess we will all find out together this fall when she shows up on campus.

She seems very calm and relaxed, mature beyond her age. Could be a leader, a captain type. At least at this point.
