The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Volleyball Team continued it very good play of late as they traveled to Manhattan, KS yesterday and won over the Wildcats 3 sets to 1 set for their 15th match win of the season. The Sooner win countered the loss that OU had against Kansas State at McCasland Field House earlier in the season in a 2 sets to 3 sets loss that saw K-State rally from a a 2 sets down position to win 3 sets in a row to take the match. The Sooners won sets 1, 2, and 4. 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23. In sets 2 and 4 the Sooners played well down the stretch and won both sets in the crucial final points of the sets.

Here is the staff writers article about the win over K-State.

As the article noted, the win marked the best conference record at 5-9 since 2019. With two more matches remaining, the Sooners have an opportunity to continue to better their conference record as the season closes. The Sooners are probably outside of the NCAA tournament due to the RPI value of 99 but the Sooners have defeated Kansas #24, Texas Tech #69 and K-State #68 in the second go-around in the Big 12 schedule. The Sooners close the season with a match against Iowa State #27 on the road and TCU #40 at home. With wins, the Sooners could very well get very close to making the tourney. If they close strong, we will see.

Last night the Chamberlain to Perkins connection was very good at the net for the Sooners. Perkins earned 17 points last night on 15 kills against only one error in only 21 attempts. Those are huge numbers for a MB. Megan Wilson added her 16.0 points along with Shelton adding 15.0 points for a very strong trio to lead the Sooners. The 11 points added by Preston gave the Sooners four double digit scorers for the Sooners.

The Sooners were very efficient at the net last night. They had a kill % of .295 for the match and a hitting % of .783 for the match. The Sooners recorded a rare 0 errors in set one with 16 kills. Chamberlain totaled 46 assists as the setter. The Sooners service game was decent last night with 7 aces and 7 errors on the night. The Sooners had 10 blocks with 1 solo block. Kemohah and Wilson led the way with 14 and 10 digs. The team only had 7 reception errors on serves from K-State.

It as a very good win for the Sooners.

Good luck to the Sooners in Ames, IA next Wednesday at 6:30 PM before returning to McCasland on Saturday for their final regular season match against TCU on Saturday at 6 PM.
