Here is the staff recap of the Sooner vs Baylor Volleyball Match tonight.

https://soonersports.com/news/2021/11/2 ... aylor.aspx

The Sooners played well in the 3rd set and pushed Baylor the entire set to lose 25-23. The good sized crowd helped OU in the 3rd set and kept their energy up.

The first two sets were well played by Baylor. Their attack, block and service efforts were outstanding as they took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-14.

Davison and Wilson lead OU with 15 and 12 points respectively. Kemohah recorded 12 digs and played a really energetic match chasing down several balls outside the lines. Dunn recorded 28 assists.

The two teams play tomorrow at 4 PM at McCasland Field House.

The final match of the volleyball season took place on Wednesday night at McCasland Field House, OU hosted Baylor once again.

Here is the staff article on the match.

Baylor once again attacked strongly in first set and won going away 25-12. OU seemed determined to make a better showing in the final two sets of the season but Baylor still prevailed in 3 sets. The 2nd set score was 25-19 and the 3rd set was 25-23.

To me the biggest difference between the two teams was the force of the balls hit during attacking points Baylor hit the volleyball hard on kills about 85% of the time. Their timing of the hitters jump and the set are in synch almost always. For the Sooners, the times the Sooners are able to spike the ball hard is much lower, maybe 40-45% of the time. The timing and position of things are just not as consistent.

Early on in Tuesday's match Baylor found a gap in the blocking defense in the middle of the court and exploited that often.

The Sooners finished the season with a 4-12 record in the Big 12 and a 10-17 record overall.

I enjoyed the five matches that I was able to attend. I will definitely be back next season. The team will miss Paige Anderson, Savanah Davison, Olivia Curtis-LittleJim, Aysia Harty and Abby Butler next season. BTW, Abby Butler played well tonight in her farewell match. She had not played all season before tonight. She had a presence on the front line for the Sooners tonight. Being tall has some advantages in volleyball and she is tall at 6'5". I will miss the athleticism and hitting power demonstrated by Davison next year. Anderson many times was the glue on the blocking line and the surprise on the kill attacks with her right side attempts. Curtis-LittleJim did most everything a player can can do to help a team during this season. Harty is a very solid defensive player that seemed to always play at a high level.

The Sooners have a strong nucleus returning with Wilson, Birmingham, Alcorn, Carrington on the front line. Dunn, Kemohah, Anthony are due to fill the setter and defensive spots in a strong way also. the incoming freshmen should have an opportunity to help also.
