OU Women's Basketball: Sooners Set for 3X Nationals w Team USA

Post by OUBeliever56A »

Last weekend four Oklahoma Women's Basketball Players played in the Team USA Basketball 3X Nationals in Colorado Springs.

Liz Scott, Nevaeh Tot, Skylar Vann and Payton Verhulst have teamed up to form Team Oklahoma and will play against the nation's best in a 3v3 tournament beginning on Saturday. The event will feature up to 12 men's and 16 women's teams, including some of the best 3x3 players in the country, vying for national titles.

Here is the staff writers article about the event.

The Sooners played in pool play on Saturday, followed by a bracket on Sunday. In addition to the OU roster, the field showcases teams from Creighton, Duke, Gonzaga, Indiana, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Seton Hall, St. John's, Tennessee, UCLA, Utah and Villanova.

I found this about the Sooners Play as they made the Semi-Finals on Sunday. It is from USA Basketball.

Women’s Tournament Wrap-up

The first semifinal between Creighton and Villanova was action-packed with impressive shot making from both sides. Creighton took the win behind hot shooting from Morgan Maly and Lauren Jensen, who scored 10 points each. The second semifinal featured Duke and Oklahoma. Neither team led by more than two points, and as the score was stuck at 20-19 with less than three minutes to play, Duke scored the game-winning basket on an impressive putback layup by Reigan Richardson with 36 seconds remaining to clinch the game.

With 12 teams participating, making it to the Semi-finals sounds like the four Sooners played pretty well.
