The Other Dominate Oklahoma College Softball Team

Post by White River »

There are many College softball fans on this board, but most aren't aware there is another dominate college softball team in the state this season. The Murray State Aggies were last year's NJCAA National Runner-ups and are 53-0 this season. They are scheduled to compete in the NJCAA Division II regionals today in Hot Springs Arkansas with the regional winner advancing to next week's Division II World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They aren't Sooner caliber, but they have been equally dominate against their competition this season.

Wow, Murray State is really dominating their Div II competition! 53-0 - THAT'S impressive!
It's really nice to have another truly dominant team in Oklahoma besides the Pokes in Stillwater (could a person really legitimately call the Cowgirls "dominant"?) LOL...

Thanks for pointing out Murray State's exploits, White River, much appreciated! It'd be nice to be able to watch them on TV, but of course the sports networks rarely put the lower divisions on the tube. Too bad.

My mistake - I thought that they were Div II. They are Juco level play...

They are Juco Division II
They just won a second game in the regionals and are in the driver's seat to advance.

The 56-0 Murray State Aggies competed in the 16 team NJCAA Division II Women's College World Series in Spartanburg South Carolina this week. The number 1 seeded Aggies opened Tuesday against #16 seeded Independence College and won the game 8-0. On Wednesday they played the #8 seeded Kirkwood and won that game 3-1 taking their record to 58-0. This morning they came up short in a pitcher's duel, losing 2-1 to Copiah-Lincoln sending them to the loser's bracket. They played this evening against Des Moines Area College and lost 9-5 ending what has been a spectacular season with a 58-2 record. The Aggies came into the series down one of their top pitchers after she and a teammate were injured in a car wreck. She pitched a few innings in the series with a broken orbital bone and an eye patch but was limited.

Let's hope they are the only team in the state that has a disappointing end to an otherwise great season!

Don't forget about UCO who is the 2 seed in the Division 2 world series. Oklahoma definitely seems to have the best softball teams top to bottom!
