WCWS selection and RPI
Here is the final RPI (well, unless there are games today?):
https://d1softball.com/nitty-gritty/
Interesting questions to me include:
Stanford - hardest schedule and season long high RPI, but do they pass the eye test as a top 5 seed?
Oklahoma State - we may be too close and too aware of their struggles, but it is very hard to see their record justify their high RPI?
Obviously the “bubble” for the top 8? I’m sure the committee will put an SEC team in the top 8, but is it LSU or TN? Louisiana going to get a top 8?
The other bubble - for the regional hosting position - who gets in? 14-18 RPI are Clemson, Arkansas, central Arkansas, Georgia and Baylor. Who gets in?
And then, of course, who’s coming to Norman?

I wonder if the 7-4 loss to Utah is enough to knock UCLA out of the #2 spot in the Tourney. Florida State could possibly move up to #2 with UCLA dropping to #3. I doubt it, but maybe.
I think the top seeds will be something like this.
1 - Oklahoma
2 - Florida State/UCLA
3 - UCLA/Florida State
4 - Tennessee
5 - Northwestern
6 - Duke
7 - Stanford
8 - someone - it could be several teams: Louisiana, OSU, LSU, Texas, Washington, Alabama
I need to go check, but if Louisiana gets the #8 seed, would that be the first time for a non-Power 5 team to host a Super Regional?
I wonder if Central Arkansas and Utah vault themselves up to a #16 seed also with their conference wins?
The Tournament Bracket reveal tonight will be pretty interesting to see. Tonight at 6 PM on ESPN2.

If Texas is in the mix for a Top 8 seed and they're looking for a deciding factor for who to give it to, the whorns should get eliminated based on the delay tactic BS Mike White pulled against Kentucky earlier in the year. When you couple that with him flipping the bird as he was leaving the field last year, well... I have zero respect for that coach and would like to see him get screwed at every turn. And in a minute I'll tell you what I really think.
I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong!

While I know we had a few cupcakes on our schedule, it's very hard for me to imagine someone else having a harder schedule (i.e. Stanford or Northwestern) this year. I guess that's why they didn't ask me to sit on the selection committee again this year.
Baylor, OSU and were all trending down toward the end of the season, so I'd be surprised if more than 1 of the 3 made it into the top 8.

Well........
Obviously, I must have been smoking something really bad to have come up with my list after seeing how the Committee is laying it out.......
Oh Brother!

I'm surprised by how much gap there is between where OSU was seeded and where Texas was seeded. That really doesn't make much sense to me.

I really think they should ban alcohol from the selection committee during the process.

Absolutely nothing after Tennessee at #4 makes any sense to me......

I thought Lousiana got a raw deal. Texas looked very unhappy with their draw.

I tuned into ESPN2 late, did not see who will be in OU's regional as the #1 seed? Anyone have a link to show the pairings?

Honestly, I thought Tejas would get a higher seed than the cowgirls based on the last 6 weeks performance........White River wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 6:32 pm I'm surprised by how much gap there is between where OSU was seeded and where Texas* was seeded. That really doesn't make much sense to me.
