Men's and Women's Track and Field: Off to Regionals - Turner #1

The Oklahoma Man's and Women's Track Teams are off to the West Regionals in Sacramento, CA on May 24 thru 27th. The Sooners qualified 39 athletes for the NCAA West Regionals. Here is the article where the men and women who qualified are listed.

As a reminder to their success, the Sooner Women finished 2nd at the Big 12 Track and Field Meet with the men finishing 4th.

Before the NCAA Regional, Oklahoma's High Jumper, Vernon Turner, was named the Big 12 Performer of the Year. Here is the staff writers article about that prestigious award.

In the first day's action of the West Regional for the Oklahoma Sooner Men's and Women's Track and Field Team from Sacramento, CA one Sooner advanced to the NCAA in Austin.

Sophomore Nikaoli Williams was the first to punch his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after leaping a PR at 26-1.50 (7.96m) in long jump and moved to third in school history.

In the second day of action on Thursday, the Sooners had 3 additional Sooners qualify for the NCAA's in Austin.

Sophomore Kassidy Gallagher was the first to punch her ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the women after marking 206-4 (62.89m) in the hammer throw
Symone Washington, a senior, leaped 20-3 (6.17m) (2.8w) in long jump to claim her spot in Austin.
Olivia Lueking closed out the day by clearing 13-10 (4.22m) in pole vault to secure a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Oklahoma Sooners earned six more entries into the NCAA Finals on action at the West Regionals on Friday.

First to punch their ticket was Vernon Turner in high jump after clearing 7-0.25 (2.14m). Following right behind, Richard Johnson (45.27) and Zarik Brown (45.37) earned a lane in the 400-meter dash to qualify for NCAA's.

Brandon Green Jr. leaped a PR at 52-5.50 (15.99m) in triple jump to qualify and move No. 8 in OU history. Josh Bour found himself a spot in the 200-meter dash after clocking a 20.70 (2.3 wind)

Closing out the men's qualifiers, the 4x400-meter relay squad crossed the line at 3:04.10 to advance to Austin.

The Oklahoma Sooners Men's and Women's Track Teams continued their good performances at the West Regional in Sacramento, CA on Saturday as they pushed several more athletes to the NCAA Finals in Austin on June 7-10.

The women's 4x100-meter relay squad of Eva Kubickova, Mikayla Hayes, Amanda Obijiaku and Kennedy Blackmon clocked a 43.91 to punch their ticket to Austin.
Blackmon earned two more entries to nationals after setting a PR for a new school record and in the 100-meter dash and running a 22.79 in the 200-meter dash.
The Sooners were represented in the 400-meter hurdles by two athletes punching their tickets to NCAA's. Daneesha Davidson clocked a 56.66 and Ashonti Warner ran a 56.75.
I think that is the list from Saturday.
