The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Golf Team opened the Hurricane Invitational very strong with a first round on Monday morning to post a 13-under par round of 275. That was good for 1st Place at the end of the morning round. Miami (the host team) was in at 10-under par at 278. The afternoon round proved to be a bit tougher for the Sooners as they shot an Even par round of 288. The two round total of 13-undr at 563 still placed the Sooners in 2nd Place after Day 1.

Isabella Schlick paced the Sooners as she shot rounds of 66 and 71 for a 7-under total of 137. Schlick sits in a T-3rd Place. Gracie Mayo shot a team low 65 in the morning round followed by a 76 in the afternoon for a 3-under total of 141. Mayo sits in a T-11th Place. Savannah Barber shot rounds of 71 and 72 for a 143 total and in T-20th Place. Emily Hun is at Even par after Day 1 with a 73 and 71 and is in T-25th. Reagan Cheney shot rounds of 75 and 74 for a 5-over total of 149 and is in a T-45th Place.

Playing individually, Rachel Nelke shot rounds of 76 and 72 for a 4-over total and is in a T-41st Place.

The Sooner team sits in 2nd Place at 13-under. Miami is in 1st Place at 20-under with South Florida in 3rd at 10-under. Texas State in in 4th Place at 7-under. Augusta is at 6-under and in 5th Place.
Tuesday's Round is a shotgun start at 8:30 AM with OU is paired with Miami and South Florida and will start on holes 1 - 4. The Sooners will start in this order; Cheney #4, Hun #3A, Barber #3B, Mayo #1A and Schlick #1B. Nelke tees off on hole #18 in the #18B group.

Good luck to the Sooners in today's final round. If they can play themselves to about a 5 to 8 under Par they should be able to remain in their 2nd Place position. If they play well and post another double digit sub par round, they can challenge the home team of Miami for first place.

Quotes from the article:

"As a team, I'm proud of our effort this week," said Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronqiue Drouin-Luttrell. "It's not easy to play with the lead groups but we handled the pressure pretty well. We closed out the fall season on a high note and will carry the momentum into the offseason. Our team has shown glimpses of our potential and it is exciting to continue to develop different areas with our players."

"Savannah had a great final round and has been battling for us all semester," said Drouin-Luttrell. "She's been putting in a lot of time and effort since her freshman year and it's paying off for her."
