College Football Playoff Thread

Post by White River »

Since multiple threads are discussing the CFP scenarios, it might be easier to keep track of them if it had it's own space.

Michigan beats Iowa, they are in and the #1 seed. An Iowa win would be a massive upset at this point.
Washington is in and likely the #2 Seed as the undefeated PAC 12 Champion
It will be hard to keep Florida State out as the undefeated ACC Champ if they beat Louisville. A Louisville win puts Texas and Bama in.
I think Texas has the edge over Bama due to the September win heads up.

I think Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon are out of the picture at this point.

Watching the Noles offense with their 3rd string QB, makes me think they could win and get left out of the playoff. I'm not sure that would be fair but It could certainly happen.

Was thinking the same thing. I know their 2nd string QB would be back by bowl time, but right now they look totally inept on offense. Not making a statement, that's for sure,

FSU now in the wildcat and score TD with a running back at QB

Monkey wrench

Bama and Georgia are now out

1 Mich
2 Washington
3 Texass
4 FSU with there wildcat

This will cause an epic meltdown in sec country

If FSU holds on to win, there will be an EPIC meltdown somewhere by somebody. I vote for a Texas meltdown, but I don't think that will happen.

No texasss has the ace. A double digit win over Bama at Bama…..the meltdown will be in sec country….

Looking on secrant half the Bama guys know they are out with a FSU win…. The Georgia guys are indignant that the sec wont be in the playoff….

You're likely right but it's not impossible that FSU gets left out and Bama makes it in. If you're really taking the top 4 teams, I think Bama would be the favorite if they played any of the other 4 teams.

Bama is not Bama of earlier years, SEC was actually down this year. ON TV THEY AID SEC WAS 7-9 AGAINST OOC P5 THIS YEAR….Georgia played nobody till playing Bama….

I think they keep FSU in even though they are not a top 15 team without Travis…

All I know is, SOMEWHERE, outrage is going to be flowing tomorrow. Could be Tallahassee. Could be Tuscaloosa, Could be Austin. But SOMEWHERE there's going to be a fanbase going ballistic. And it's going to be entertaining to see which fanbase it is.

Conference championships are supposed to mean something to the committee. Don't see how you can leave out an undefeated conference champ. There are 3 of those, so it comes down to which 1-loss conference champ, and TX has the head-to-head over Bama. I think the SEC gets left out of the playoff this year, or at least they should, if results on the field mean anything. If the committee goes by who they "think" is the best, rather than by who earned it on the field, then may as well crown the champion after spring games.

...i DIDN'T/DON'T REALLY CARE WHO THIS FINAL, FINAL 4 CFP IS COMPRISED OF.
I'll be watching both games.

I was hoping for a closer game in the Big 12 Title Game.
But, the one thing i WAS REALLY HOPING FOR, was for texass to be left OUt!!! :hornsburning:
Alas, afraid I may be disappointed.
But if Sarkisian's shorthorns get in, will make it easy to decide who to pull for.

12 TEAM PLAYOFF in 2024!
Expecting Team 130 to be one of them!
