Next year

Post by Zgeo »

I am really looking forward to next year. We will be in the SEC with an SEC schedule We will have a new OC and move on from Lebbys fascination with the jet sweep. A whole new set of places to play football. A 12 team playoff. No Big 12 refs. It will be a big change for the better.

I expect 10-2 will be a good year but who knows. Maybe we win the conference in the inaugural year

Venables revamp is moving forward and we get better each and everyday.

I expect more old school football from the conference opponents ie punt on fourth instead of going for it almost every time on fourth down. Also the opponents won’t be as familiar with us as the old foes. I figure Saban goes on for another 5 years and Kirby for 20 so it will be tough but manageable….. we will still have texasss to beat up on which is great…..

I am excited too! I think this team is building on a good foundation. I actually expect to surprise some people next year and I can guarantee going 10-2 will get us in the playoff where who knows what could happen.

I think the future looks bright and am looking forward to all the new opponents playing in that shiny new SEC patch. That alone should ensure better officiating hopefully!

10-2? Some of you may be looking at next year's schedule through some very heavily tinted crimson-colored glasses...

Rosters & rankings will change next season, but as of now, OU will be facing the following teams:

#3 :horns:
#5 Bama
#9 @ Mizzou
#11 @ Ole Miss
#13 @ LSU
#23 Tulane
#25 Tennessee

That is quite a gauntlet of a schedule. With a new, inexperienced QB1, replacing both starting OTs, replacing who knows how many DL, expecting 10-2 might be a bit much. OU could be a vastly improved team next year, & still finish 7-5 in a worst case scenario.

Agreed - we will be in even more hurt if guys on defense like Stusman and Bowers go to the NFL. That would be too much to replace to expect a 10-2 record. I think realistically, we should expect something like a 8-4 record.

Decent play calling and we r undefeated this year. I am assuming we get great play calling next year.WWS. 10-2 is good . Show me the 5 losses you all are fearing……lol….

Bama is tough, Texassss will be tough :hornsburning:

Then what ?? Tulane lost their coach, Tennessee is going downhill, LSU loses Jayden, ole MIss is not good this year they just rack up good loses LOL,
\bunch of nervous nellies…….

We need this
1 FG kicker
2 TE
3OL portaled tackles
4 DL portals

But EVERYONE HAS TO WORK THE PORTAL EVERY YEAR NOW….DEAL WITH IT….. :BV: :ou:

Just for fun, what are the dollars you want to risk your 10 - 2 regular season wins? I'm not afraid of losing some dollars that 10-0 might dissolve by the end of October 2024. Those seven SEC teams listed leave five other games to beat, and I don't know who are two of the five games. Temple, Houston, and Tulane leave you with OU beating seven additional wins. We might know more when we learn about the other two teams we won't know for a while.

Let me know when we discover the other two teams we will play.

10-2? 8-4? Pshaw!

16-0 and Bama and Georgia can be our towelboys. I was gonna say can carry our jockstraps, but Texas is never going to give up that job.

The fourth one on the list scares the crap out of me. Hopefully we are watching film on them all summer.

We may be able to tout a win over the next national champ…

Seems like that would make us legit

They did lose a bit of credibility showing us still in the Big XII for 2024, but they got all the teams right.
