Sooners close the weekend with a 11-3 win over LB State - 4-0 !

First off, the game was won 11-3. Let's not expect too much. That is a good win! It is an even better win after the win the night before that lasted until what 11 PM? It was a late night. By the time the team got to their rooms it might have been midnight. That is a bit of a quick turnaround to be ready to play at 1 PM the next morning. When I walked away from the field on Friday night, the team was sitting in a circle in RF with the coaches talking, maybe the players talked to. They were taking stock I think. A good comeback win. A good game against good pitching, one really good pitcher. And it was a win.

Saturday, against Long Beach State, it was a bit quiet for the Sooners. The quick 3-run lead for the Sooners on a 3-run Brito Bomb, was offset by 3 runs in the second by Long Beach State. ?Oklahoma scored 1 run in the next four innings with two 3-up-3-down innings to lead 4-3. The run was on a Cydney Sanders HR that caroomed of the CF's glove over the fence in the 4th. The third pitcher of the game for 'The Beach' ran into trouble in the 6th as OU scored 6 runs on another solo HR by Brito, 2 walks for RBIs, a run on a double play and a 2 run HR by Jennings. Breathing room. 10-3. Another run in the 7th made it 11-3 on a single by Hansen.

Keeney came in to the game for OU in the 2nd inning and pitched 4.1 innings in relief of Deal. Keeney did not allow a hit or a walk and picked up two Ks as she picked up the win. Monticelli pitched the final inning for OU as she allowed on single. Deal lasted 1.2 innings as she gave up a 2 run double and an RBI single in the second inning.

Oklahoma is 4-0, with 2 good wins over Duke and Washington 3-0 and 4-3. Two wins by the combined scores of 24-3 over Utah Valley and Long Beach State. the team scored 31 runs in 4 games, (just under 8 a game) and allowed 3 earned runs on the weekend with two shutouts and one run-rule game. A modest start including 2 good wins.

The offense is missing a couple cylinders right now but there are good signs that the offense will be strong once again. The pitching is deep enough also. Twelve (12) of the fourteen (14) players played in each game. The two biggest hits of the season so far belong to Ludlam and Boone. The best pitching performance was Maxwell's 2.2 innings against Washington to pick up a win.

4-0 with 57 and counting. Not that the streak is important, but just listing it.

Hansen hit her 50th HR as a Sooner, Jennings hit her 74th and 75th HR as a Sooner! Coleman swiped her 50 stolen base as a Sooner. Hansen passed 200 hits as a Sooner with 202 now. Jennings now has 225 hits. Hansen and Boone now have 200 wins as a Sooner and only 12 losses. Coleman, Jennings and May have 180 wins against 8 losses.

We can rattle off historical stat after historical stat associated with Patty's tenure at OU, but those 2 stats right there might be the most ridiculous ones of all. It's mind-boggling to see such dominance in a time of such parity.

On the radio before the Long Beach game, Patty said that they ate dinner at 12:30 after the game.

This year's Seniors are going to break some records.

Career hits Jennings might make it to #2 on the most career hits while Coleman could possibly make it to #5.

Career HRs I think Tiare will catch Lauren Chamberlain and end up #2 on the HR list

Career RBIs Tiare is likely to pass both Chamberlain and Alo & end up as the OU career RBI leader

Jayda is currently 9th in career stolen bases. She will probably end up 4th or 5th
