Oklahoma Men's & Women's Tennis this Week! 3 road, 1 home match

The Oklahoma Men and Women both play two confernece matches this week.

The Women play two matches on the road with their first match on Thursday at Iowa State starting at Noon CST. Their second match is at Kansas on Saturday again at Noon.

The Men play two matches this week with the first at home and the second match on the road. Their first match is at home (Headington Family Tennis Center) versus TCU on Thursday at 5 PM and then the Men travel to Provo, UT to play BYU on Saturday in a 5 PM match also.

Here are the Standings of the Big 12 Women Teams:
1st - OSU - 8-0 and 19-0 overall
T2nd - Texas - 6-1 and 13-3 overall
T2nd - Texas Tech - 6-1 and 12-4 overall
T2nd - Baylor - 6-1 and 14-6 overall
5th - TCU - 6-2 and 10-4 overall
6th - Oklahoma - 5-2 and 10-5 overall
7th - BYU - 3-2 and 12-4 overall
8th - UCF - 3-4 and 6-10 overall
9th - Kansas - 2-4 and 13-6 overall
10th - West Virginia - 2-5 and 13-6 overall
11th - Kansas State - 1-7 and 7-9 overall
12th - Cincinnati - 1-6 and 7-8 overall

The Oklahoma men's tennis team is slated to play two ranked conference matchups this week. The Sooners host No. 2 TCU on Thursday, March 28 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Orlando, Florida to take on No. 34 UCF on Saturday, March 30 at 5 p.m.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the BIG win for the Sooner Men.

The Sooners (#22 Ranked) obviously played very well against TCU (#3 Ranked) as they won 2 singles matches in 2 straight sets and the other 2 in 3 sets as the match wound down. The Sooners won 2 of the last 3 matches which were the last three matches to finish. Martinez (#20) won the final match in a upset win Pennington (#8) in a third set tie-breaker. I would bet that Headington Fmily Tennis Center was very loud as that tie-breaker ended. Huge time Congratulations to the Sooner Men. The win pushes the Sooners to 3-0 in the Big 12 and in a tie with Texas at 3-0. OSU lost on Thursday to UCF to 3-4 to drop out of the 1st Place tie with OU and Texas.

The Sooners travel to Orlando, Florida to take on the No. 29 UCF on Saturday, March 30 at 5 p.m.

The No. 22 Oklahoma men's tennis team improved to 16-2 on the season after picking up a road win over No. 29 UCF on Saturday evening. The Sooners won 4-0 over the Golden Knights on Saturday evening in Orlando.

Oklahoma won the Doubles Point with wins at the #1 and #3 teams. Freshman pair Hank Trondson and Asahi Harazaki took the first win as the #3 team with a 6-2 win. Fifth-year senior Mark Mandlik and junior Jordan Hasson coming up short at the #2 spot, 3-6. But Fifth-year seniors Baptiste Anselmo and Alex Martinez sealed the doubles point for OU, winning 7-5 at the one position to pick up the Doubles point,

The #4, #1 and #2 Singles players for OU won their singles matches in straight sets to give Oklahoma the win with a 4-0 shutout. Sophomore Luis Alvarez (#4) was first to put a singles point on the board for the Sooners with a swift straight-set win, 6-2 and 6-0. Sooner #1 and 20th ranked, Alex Martinez put the Sooners closer to winning the match after he won in straight sets at the one line, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman, Kholo Montsi clinched the match for OU as the #2 player, after picking up his third conference win at the two position with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Congratulations to the Sooner Men who are now 4-0 in conference play and are tied with Texas in 1st place. The Sooners return to Norman to face No. 10 Texas A&M on Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m. OU then hosts No. 27 Baylor at home on Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m.
