Friday's Schedule for the Elite 8 at the Alliance National Tournament.

The eight Elite 8 teams are divided into two four team brackets. The two groups of 4 teams play a double elimination bracket on Friday and Saturday to produce the two final teams that will play a 3-Game Series on Saturday and Sunday.

Bracket A:

Game #1 - OC Batbusters Stith VS Iowa Premier 18U National @ 11:15 AM (10:15 AM CST)

Brinkley Moreton (Mississippi State commit) pitched the shutout against the Batbusters. ----- Batbusters - Garcia - 1 for 3, Minor - 1 for 4 with a SB. Hicks - 0 for 1. Prospects: Tindal - 1 for 3, Hilliard - 0 for 3. Cowsill - 0 for 2. Escobar - 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 HB, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 W, 3 K.

The Iowa Premier will play the Corona Angels Tyson 18U at 3:45 PM (2:45 PM CST).

Game #2 - 18U Texas Glory VS Corona Angels Tyson 18U @ 11:15 AM (10:15 AM CST). The Corona Angels won 3- 2 over the Texas Glory.

Game #3 - Iowa Premier 18U National VS Corona Angels Tyson 18U @ 3:45 PM (2:45 PM CST)

UPDATE: The Iowa Premier 18U National lost 2 - 6 to the Corona Angels Tyson. The loss moves the Iowa Premier to the loser's bracket to play the Texas Bombers 18u Gold in the 6:00 PM (5:00 PM CST) game.

I do not have access to any stats for Helton or for Hudgens (Prospect).

Game #4 - OC Batbusters Stith VS 18U Texas Glory Loser @ 3:45 PM (2:45 PM CST)

UPDATE: The OC Batbusters Stith Won 5 - 0 over the 18U Texas Glory. The Batbusters move on to play the EPIC 18U National Smith in Game #5 in an elimination game @ 6:00 PM (5:00 PM CST).

Here are some stats from the game. Garcia - 1 for 3, 2B and 1 W. Minor - 0 for 4. Hicks - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 W and 1 K. Prospects: Tindal - 0 for 2, 1 W, 1 HBP. Hilliard - 2 for 3, 1 W.

Game #5 - EPIC 18U National Smith VS OC Batbusters Stith @ 6:00 PM (5:00 PM CST)

UPDATE: The OC Batbusters Stith Won 9 - 5 over the EPIC 18U National Smith. The OC Batbusters advance to the Bracket A Finals against the Corona Angels Tyson 18U played on Saturday morning at 9 :00 AM (8:00 AM CST).

Here are the Stats for the EPIC: McKay - 0 for 3, 1 K.

Saturday: Game #6 - Corona Angels Tyson 18U VS OC Batbusters Stith @ 9:00 AM (8:00 AM CST)
Game #7 - "IF Game" if necessary @ 11:15 AM (10:15 AM CST)

Bracket B:

Game #8 - Aces 18U Fastpitch VS Impact Gold Jackson 18U @ 9:00 AM (8:00 AM CST)
  • UPDATE: The Aces 18U Lost 4 - 11 to the Impact Gold. the game was tied 4-4 through the 3rd. The Impact Gold pushed across one more run in the 4th to lead 5-4. Trailing by a run, The Aces removed Allyssa Parker from the circle and the game quickly got out of hand as the Impact Gold scored 6 runs in the next two innings.

With the loss, the Aces 18U will play in the Loser's Bracket at 1:30 PM (12:30 PM CST) against the Texas Bombers 18U Gold.

    Here are some stats from the game. A. Parker - 2 for 4, 1 RS, 1 K. - 4.0 IP, 7 hits, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 W and 5 Ks. McDaniel - 2 for 3, 2 RBI, 1 W, 1 K. Prospect: Perry - 2 for 2, 1 RS, 2 RBI, HR, 1 W.
Game #9 - Texas Bombers Gold 18U VS EPIC 18U National Smith @ 9:00 AM (8:00 AM CST)
  • UPDATE: The EPIC 18U Won 2 - 0 over the Bombers. EPIC 18U scored 2 runs on only 4 hits and 1 walk. McKay had a big game for EPIC 18U as she had a 2B, 3B was 2 for 2 and 1 walk and an RBI that is questionable in my mind. They had good pitching int he circle by Makenzie Freeman (Tulsa commit) with her 8-hit CG Shutout.

They will now play at 1:30 PM (12:30 PM CST) in the winner's game.
Game #10 - Impact Gold Jackson 18U VS EPIC 18U National Smith @ 1:30 PM (12:30 PM CST)

UPDATE: The EPIC 18u National Smith lost 0 - 10 to the Impact Gold in the Bracket B Winner's Game. They now move to the Loser's bracket and will play at 6:00 PM (5:00 PM CST).

For the EPIC 18, McKay was 0 for 1 in the game.

Game #11 - Aces 18U Fastpitch VS Texas Bombers 18U Gold @ 1:30 PM (12:30 PM CST)

UPDATE: The Aces 18U lost 1 - 5 to the Texas Bombers 18U Gold. With the loss the Aces are eliminated from the tournament.

I think that the Aces ended up needing to pitch Allyssa Parker a bit too much the last couple of days. The offense was not as effective today as well. Here are some stats from the game.

A. Parker - 1 for 4 and 6.0 IP, 10 hits, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 W, 4 K. McDaniel - 1 for 4, 1 K. Prospects: A Perry - 1 for 3, 1 CS.

Game #12 - Texas Bombers 18U Gold VS Iowa Premier 18U National @ 6:00 PM (5:00 PM CST)

UPDATE: The Iowa Premier 18U National Lost 9 - 10 to the Texas Bombers 18U Gold.

According to "oufanforever", appearently, the game was affected by darkness and they had to change fields. Iowa Premier lead 9 - 7 after five innings due to an inside-the-park grand slam by 'Goose' Hudgens. In the bottom of the 7th, the Bombers tied the score with 2 SFLYs for a 9 - 9 Tie. It sounds like they had to change fields to have lights to finish the game. After switching fields, Iowa Premier did not score in the top of the 8th. But the Bombers had a batter/runner reach 3B and Iowa Premier decided to load the bases and play for the force at home. But a Bomber chopper over the pitchers head up the middle scored the winning run to give the Bombers the 10-9 Win.

Saturday: Game #13 - Impact Gold Jackson 18U VS Texas Bombers 18U Gold @ 9:00 AM (8:00 AM CST)
Game #14 - "IF Game" if necessary @ 11:15 AM (10:15 AM CST)

Good morning everyone, will report on the games as I watch along:

Epic National leads 1 - 0 after 5 complete. McKay scored on a fielding error on the triple she hit to CF in the top of 5th.
Update: Epic National wins 2 - 0 to face the winner of Aces 18U vs Impact Gold Jackson 18U.

Aces 18U loses 4 - 11 to Impact Gold Jackson 18U.

In the 1st: Parker and McDaniel both singled in the top of 1, with McDaniel’s hit driving in 2 runs
Parker in the circle, gave up 2 singles and allowed a run on a 1st and 3rd play where they tagged out the runner trying to steal 2B.

In the 2nd: Parker struck out for the last out in the top of 2. Perry hit a 2 run HR. Bottom of 2, Parker got into a bases loaded jam but McDaniel made a good play on a slow roller to throw out the runner by a step.

In the 3rd: McDaniel with another single to LF but that is it for offense. Tough start for Parker in the 3rd. Walk, double down 3B line, single scores 2 runs without any out. Followed up with a K and a ground ball to pitcher for 2 outs. Another single scores the runner at 3B. A harsh scorer could ruled it a error on McDaniel since it tipped off her glove.

In the 4th: Aces go quietly on offense. Bad start on defense. Routine ground ball not fielded cleanly by 2B to allow the lead off to reach. On a sac bunt, Parker fields the ball and throws to 2B but it goes into CF. Sac bunt moves the runners, an intentional walk to load the bases, and a ground ball to 2B went home but was beaten out. Infield did not play in with bases loaded. Pop out to 1B for the second out. K ends the inning.

In the 5th: Parker leads off with a single up the middle. After a pop out, McDaniel walked to get 2 on 1 out. A strike out and line out to the pitcher ended the threat. Vokun came in to pitch, lead off single, sac bunt moving runner to 3B, infield single, triple. Hoffman (OSU commit?) came in to pitch. Walk, single score another. Fly out but bad throw in allow runner to advance, double steal scores another. Finally ground out to 3B ends the inning.

In the 6th: Aces threatens with 2 on 1 out, but a strike out and pop out by Parker ends the threat. Impact Gold uses their speed to score 2 more runs in the 6th.

In the 7th: McDaniel strikes out, and a double play ends the game.

Aces will face Texas Bombers Gold 18u at 12:30 CT.

On the McKay 3B, the scorer gave McKay an RBI someway. Scoring is so random.

I saw the McDaniel play. She had to backhand the ball in the hole between SS and 3B and it was a one hopper hit fairly hard. Yes, it was a tough error as ruled by the scorer as the tying run scored.

Batbusters vs Iowa Premier next, Hutchens vs Hillard, two very good 2027 catchers faces off.

Top of 1: Shumaker flies out, Garcia singles, Tindal singles, Hilliard hits a deep fly ball to RF but the defender made an amazing leaping twisting catch, Garcia tag to get to 3B, Minor grounds out to SS to end the inning.
Bottom of 1: Escobar pitching, pop out to Garcia, HBP, fly out to LF, Hutchens grounds out to 1B.

Top of 2: Cowsill catching instead of Hicks today, she strikes out. Shuler hits a ball down the 3B line but Hutchens made a nice backhand snatch and throws her out, Mertes grounds out to 3B.
Bottom of 2: Escobar starts with a K, then a HBP, K on a questionable check swing, ground out to SS.

Top of 3: Del Duca flies out to LF, Shumaker strikes out, Garcia lines out to Hutchens at 3B.
Bottom of 3: Helton flies out to LF, ground out to SS, 2B makes a great snag on a ball hit between the 4-5 hole and spin around to throw the hitter out. What a play.

Top of 4: Tindal ground out, Hilliard flies out, Minor singles, Cowsill strikes out.
Bottom of 4: Fly out, Hutchens HBP, pop up bunt, walk, K ends the inning.

Top of 5: Shuler flies out, Mertes singles, Del Duca strikes out, Shumaker beats out grounder to SS, Garcia flies out to LF.
Bottom of 5: Lead off single, Helton got pinch hit for, bunt where the throw went to 2B and runner beat it out, sac bunt, throw to 3B got the lead runner, on the throw back to 1B it goes into RF, runner starting on 1B went home on the error, ball beat her but got knocked out of the glove of the catcher on the tag, run scores, hitter went to 3B. Squeeze bunt missed, runner at 3B tagged out, fly out to RF. Iowa Premier 1 - 0 Batbusters.

Top of 6: Tindal grounds out to P, Hilliard flies out to CF, Minor flies out to CF.
Bottom of 6: Hicks come in to catch. Fly out, Hutchens flies out, infield single, ground out to 3B.

Top of 7: Hicks pops out to P, Shuler singles, Mertes grounds into FC out at 2B, Del Duca flies out.

Iowa Premier wins 1-0

Impact Gold seems to be playing pretty good ball. I assume Bordi is still out with injury? That has to hurt Bastbusters. Best pitcher and a middle of lineup bat.

Yeah. Batbusters this year is not the juggernaut they were last couple years. Without their ace, it is amazing they still make deep runs at multiple tournaments. Impact Gold has serious speed on the team, saw them using it to cause havoc on defense.

Final round of games today:

Epic National vs Batbusters
Iowa Premier vs Texas Bombers Gold

Both are elimination games.

Batbusters won 9 - 5 against Epic National. Hicks with a huge 2-out, 3 run HR in the top of 7th to seal the victory. They will play against Corona Angels tomorrow and need to beat them twice.

Iowa Premier leads 9-9 after 7 innings. Hutchens hit an inside the park grand slam in the top of the 5th to give Iowa Premier a 9-7 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Texas Bombers Gold hit back to back sac fly to tie the game. Going to extras. Stream died and getting no updates in a while. I wonder if the game got called for today due to lateness and will finish tomorrow?

Update: They are back playing on a new field with light. Iowa Premier failed to score in the top of 8th. Had to intentionally load the bases in the bottom of 8 once the runner got 3B on a pass ball without an out. A chopper over the head of the pitcher walks it off for Texas Bombers Gold. They will have to beat Impact Gold Jackson twice tomorrow.

As the Batbusters usually are.

I think that the Aces needed a bit more top level pitching this season. Only Allyssa Parker was effective for them this week. To me, the EPIC 18U team always plays better then they look. Their pitcher that is going to Tulsa can pitch. I would not be surprised if she ends up somewhere else. I think the Iowa Premier will believe that they should still be playing today. Their program is improving very quickly.

The Batbusters did not play their ALL-EVERYTHING Taylor Shumaker the last game yesterday. (She has 33 doubles and 25 HRs this year while hitting over .600.) Here was their lineup yesterday.

Tindall - LF - 2026
Garcia - SS - 2024 OU
Hilliard - C - 2027
Minor - CF - 2025 OU
Cowsill - DP - 2026 and Hicks - C - 2024 OU
Townsend - 1B - 2024 - BYU
Shuler - RF - 2024 - Duke
Del Duca - 2B - 2025 - uncommitted
Mertes - 3B - 2024 - UCF
Pitcher - Berry - 2024 - Indiana and Escobar - 2026

Townsend usually does not start. They moved Shuler from 2B to RF to get both her and Del Duca in the lineup.

They do not have great pitching but they have several of them that all can throw enough. Escobar might ne the best but Villegas, Berry and Shuler are not too bad either.

Several teams with our 25 class went pretty deep in tournament. Seems like a good chance we can see some deep runs next year.

We are getting close to time for 26 verbals. Might have to pay attention to some of the 26 futures all stars.
