They have played 2 teams that were little more than cannon fodder. NC state was supposed to be decent but who knows early season.
Their QB reminds me of Menseh of Tulane.
Difficult to know about their defense given their schedule so far.
Gut feel is they are good but may be overhyped. No one is ever as good as the hype or as bad as the criticism.
We do need Nic Anderson and Andrel Anthony back. We need the best Oline play of the season. We need great play calling. Also the defense has to get pressure on their QB as well as coverup their WR. Menseh was worse as the game progressed and the Defense hammered him…..

One thing you can hang your hat on is that their head coach is coming with a chip on his shoulder. I don't know if he has ever returned to Norman after he was let go. I don't know if any fences have been mended but I hope so, it will be interesting to see what happens.

...Vols led Kent St. 30-zip with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter and Josh attempts & recovers an ON-Side Kick???
65-zip at halftime!
See ya next Saturday, Josh!

Hahaha! I guess they thought it was a practice scrimmage and they needed to do an onside practice drill for when they have to play catch-up when they come to Norman..lol...OU Chinaman wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 9:24 am ...Vols led Kent St. 30-zip with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter and Josh attempts & recovers an ON-Side Kick???

Onside kick in first quarter while leading sounds like they were trying to score 100 points against that cannon fodder…I guess they think most people only see the final score and nothing else….
Anyone know if nic Anderson will play?

They could have scored 100 if they wanted to. They emptied their bench and only scored 6 points after halftime.
As a fan I’d much rather have that, instead of having all our starters in the game while we struggle deep into the 4th quarter with mediocre opponents.

Where's Mike Lupica? Seems like he would be chiming in on this game......
Kent St and Chattanooga are not real games for a P4 team. The “score” is meaningless . I would not watch OU play them .SoonerTony wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:53 am They could have scored 100 if they wanted to. They emptied their bench and only scored 6 points after halftime.

You didn’t watch OU play Kent State in 2022? Or Chattanooga in 2008?Zgeo wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:48 pmKent St and Chattanooga are not real games for a P4 team. The “score” is meaningless . Somebody else was up big and onside kicked "because it was available".
I'm almost positive it was Sark.

Apparently, a deleted tweet from Josh earlier this morning...
"Do I still have a soft spot for the University of Oklahoma? Yes.
Do I feel a little angst over them firing me.... of course.
Will I let off the gas if we get up BIG? Probably not."
Source..

Get it on tape. Something else for OU & future opponents to plan for & practice.OU Chinaman wrote: Sun Sep 15, 2024 9:24 am ...Vols led Kent St. 30-zip with 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter and Josh attempts & recovers an ON-Side Kick???

Regardless of who they have played, Tennessee is clearly the best team OU has faced thus far this season, and an argument can be made that they will be the best team OU will face all year.
The main issue for OU is matchups - TN's strength on defense is their DL; OU's biggest weakness on offense is the OL (let's be honest - OU doesn't really have any strengths on offense. They're all varying levels of weaknesses at this point). Their DL is full of monsters, led by Pearce at DE - for sure a 1st round draft pick & will likely go in the Top 10.
Without the OU defense forcing a BUNCH of turnovers, I don't see any way the OU offense scores more than 13 points... hope I'm wrong.
