Here is the information I have logged about Malaya Majam-Finch. She plays summer ball for the Corona Angels – Tyson.

Here is a summary of her rankings:

2021 - EIS - #1 Ranked in the Class as a Pitcher/Utility player
2022 - EIS - T-#12 Player in the Class - P/UT
Late 2023 - EIS - #79 player (top 100 players actually) in the Class.
May of 2023 - SA - Not ranked in the Top 25, which is all that SA listed.
Sept of 2024 - SA - #25 Player as a Pitcher/Utility player
I had read a couple things about her, but as I watched her rankings drop, I really did not follow her closely. But as we all know, the Sooners do not recruit players by their ranking. They recruit players because of all the things like spin rate, movement, etc as a pitcher. I think Majam-Finch will be mainly a pitcher. But it never hurts if a pitcher can hit as well as she can.

I see where she is now throwing 67 mph. She has a large frame and looks powerful. If you haven't picked up on it, Majam-Finch is the niece of Jennie Finch. Yes, that Jennie Finch of Arizona pitching fame. Those are some very good genes in that family.

I think we can be very happy about Majam-Finch as a recruit as she will continue to develop. I can't help but think of comparing her to Faraimo (UCLA) with her build and upper shoulders.

As posted below, here are her primary stats as a pitcher. 153.2 IP - 104 hits - 25 W - 174 K - 5 EBH allowed, all 5 were HRs. That is low hits at .67 per inning, low walks at .16 per inning and 1.13 Ks per inning. Exactly what a coach wants in a pitcher. She only gave up 5 EBH in 173.2 innings or 1 EBH every 34.7 innings. All five were HRs but that is still very good.

She should fit in well with Lowry, Berkley Zache, Sophia Bordi and Allyssa Parker on the Sooner pitching staff.
