Do you think he saw the writing on the wall with Lebby leaving & Littrell taking over the Offence.

supposedly there was Concern that JA would not sit more than one season behind DG AND DG wanted to take a shot at the draft. However college NIL $$$ was better than 7th round ( I believe he was projected at 7th Round) qb $$$ and he was gone. It was a calculated bet. If JA leaves and DG is here for 24. The belief was that JA would be decent and OU would have him for 24 and 25 at least. The staff rolled the Dice and lost. OU would be better with DG, with a bunch a FR WR and a faulty O line who knows how much better. OU probably beats Tenn at home. RRR is probably alot closer and if OU doesn't spot SC 21 points ( 24 f you count that stupid fake punt in our own territory). Then DG probably wins that game too. For future reference , you NEVER let an experience QB walk unless it's to the NFL period. WWBD ( What Would Bob Do) we know how much he valued an experience QB, now we are all painfully aware of the calculus involved.

I didn’t really mind the fake punt call. It would have worked if Jacobe Johnson hadn’t COMPLETELY whiffed on his block.

Then again, he’s only been playing receiver for a couple of weeks. Maybe if had started the season at receiver he wouldn’t have missed that block?

But yeah, this staff has totally mismanaged the quarterback situation. DG probably buys us at least 1 more win and keeps the other games closer.

Tenn only won by 15 ... with Zero Offense in the first half and we got it on their 5 yard line and fumbled it next play .. With out giving SC 24 points ... it's an 11-9 game .. BOTH of those are a win with DG. Again QB is the SINGLE most important position.

Brent said he was surprised DG was coming back to play another year of college ball. This after Dillon's pro evaluation went poorly. I believe that DG got a better offer from Oregon and hit the portal for the $$. OU couldn't afford big NIL payments to DG and Jackson, so they had to let him walk rather than make a substantial counter offer. DG went to the highest bidder. It's about the $$$. I was initially upset with Dillon for leaving but he couldn't walk away from the big bucks. Obviously he made a great choice for him. He would not make us a top 5 team.

I'm still on the side that said Dillon made the best decision for himself. The Ducks were loaded for a trophy run and Dillon is riding high and will likely be the lead Heisman candidate. Staying would have been really good for the Sooners, but leaving was his best move.....his NFL rating will improve for sure.

If DG were here we would have beat Tennesse. If you had been watching Tennessee you saw that he plays the game every time just he did for us. He takes a few shots downfield but mostly plays the run game. He played his full game against us he has not done anything different the whole season. We would have lost to Texas they just blew up out Oline so did South Carolina….

So DG would have got us one more win is all……

It was time to move on and deal with what we had we needed to be exposed to our defecencies so we can fix them. DG would have made it a little harder to realize we had a crap offensive system that has no chance of success….

In any case rumor is DG got north of $3million in NIL he would never get that here…..

...pretty much agree with what everybody's said here.

Also wanted to add, there was more than a fair amount of criticism of Gabriel right here and elsewhere. He knew it.
I wish him well.

Personally, Gabriel will always be one of the ionic stars of the Red River Shootout for me.
That last minute drive for the 34-30 win in 2023 was his best "MOMENT" in 2 years @ OKLAHOMA
