The Oklahoma Sooners Volleyball Team will be in Austin, TX today for a match against the Texas Longhorns in the first of two meetings this season in the Red River Rivalry between the two new SEC schools. Oklahoma brings a 3-6 SEC record into the match as the Sooners have played well the last two weeks as they are 2-2 with two matches on the road and 2 matches at home. OU defeated Georgia (3-6) and then lost to South Carolina (3-5) in 4 sets on the road before defeating Alabama in 3 straight sets and droppiing their 5 set match to Missouri at home last week. Texas brings their 7-2 SEC record into the match as they have lost their last two matches to Texas A&M (6-3) and Missouri (7-2) with both matches going to the 5th set.
Oklahoma will need to bring their "A" game with them to Austin. The Sooners have been probably playing their "B+" game as of late as they will play 3 or 4 or 3 of 5 good sets in a match. They need to play well in all 5 sets today. The keys will be a good serving match with few errors and an efficient attack game at the net with less errors. OU will have to block well to maintain a strngth of the Sooners and handle their first touches well and keep point alive as long as possible. Lydia Martin, Kari Geissberger and Kamille Gibson may be the keys on the attack. Alexis Shelton will get her points and attempts. Chamberlain needs to have a strong assist game today with a varied pattern at the net as Kemohah and J Ellison and S Thompson play well on the back row with digs and first touches.
Texas has one of the best players at the net in Skinner but she gets a lot of help from Wenaas, Rutherford and Singeltary as the Longhorns have gereat size up front. Halter is one of the best floor players in the game and you will see her diving and keeping balls alive continually.
The match is on SECN+ at 1 PM today.

Alexis Shelton scored 31.5 Points with 27 Kills, a 51.9 Kill% and 36.5 Hitting% with 2 service aces and 3.5 Block Points.
Callie Kemohah had a big, no huge service run in the 4th set as OU came from 14-15 to 18-15 with Kemohah serving to take the lead for good in the 4th set.
OU won the 1st set, 25-21. Texas won the 2nd and 3rd 27-15 and 25-19. OU won the 4th, 25-17 and then the 5th set at 15-9.
It is the first won over Texas since 2014. Texas has lost 3 straight matches to A&M, Mizzou and now OU in 5 sets at home in Austin.
It was probably the best match I have watched OU play in my last four years. I am so happy for Kemohah to get this win as a senior and a Sooner thru and thru!
It is a signature win for Coach Mansfield.

Coach Mansfield said this after the match, "This was a super special moment for the program. The players who decided to stick around were yearning for a win like this and something that feels really special to them. We haven't finished a lot of matches and I'm really proud of how we fought back."
The Sooners will spend the weekend in Mississippi this week with matches at Ole Miss (4-6 in SEC) on Friday and at Mississippi State (4-5 in SEC) on Sunday.
It was a great win for the Sooners on Sunday in Austin. Hopefully, this will spur the Sooners to a strong finish in conference play with 5 matches to play and rhe last three matches at home at McCasland Field House against Texas A&M, Texas and Auburn.
