I guess it's premature to do this sort of thing since this weekend's championship games haven't even been played yet much less any of the bowls announced....but has anyone heard any rumblings about if any of the players--seniors, I guess, are "opting out" of the bowl game to prepare for the nfl draft?

Last I heard (from them in separate interviews) Stutsman and Bowman had not made a decision (maybe waiting to see which bowl?).TropicalSooner wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 9:42 pm I guess it's premature to do this sort of thing since this weekend's championship games haven't even been played yet much less any of the bowls announced....but has anyone heard any rumblings about if any of the players--seniors, I guess, are "opting out" of the bowl game to prepare for the nfl draft?

Me too.....would rather play somebody from a conference that we don't normally encounter. We've played B12 teams forever....would like to see somebody different.Zgeo wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:05 pm Would rather play a Big 10 or ACC team. No interest in KSU at all.
I would imagine all that go to nfl opt out…..haven’t heard anything it is too early….

Forget everything else. Its the money that matters.
A quick Google search shows Liberty Bowl pays out between $4 mil and $6 mil. Seems to vary a lot from year to year.
Maybe somebody can post the SEC bowl $$$ sharing policy for non-CFP programs.
CFP programs get bigly cash.
Fun fact - most recent compensation policy for CFP participants:
How much does a team get for making the College Football Playoff in 2024-2025?
With the new 12-team playoff comes a new revenue distribution model. For 2024-2025, here’s how much each team will make in the College Football Playoff:
$4 million for each of the 12 teams that makes the College Football Playoff
$4 million for each of the 8 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals
$6 million for each of the 4 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Semifinals
$6 million for each of the 2 teams that makes the College Football Playoff National Championship Game
Additionally, each team who participates in the College Football Playoff receives $3 million to cover expenses for each round.
Additionally, each conference receives $300,000 for each of its schools whose football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a postseason football game. Each independent institution also receives $300,000 if its football team meets the same standard.

We won’t have better bowl options as long as we dwell in the bottom quarter of the SEC. Of course we would all prefer to not be in this situation.TropicalSooner wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 12:25 pmMe too.....would rather play somebody from a conference that we don't normally encounter. I am done playing Big 12 teams…. I saw 4 projections that had us playing either NC or NC ST in either Gasparilla or Liberty Bowl….
I mean KSU was Big 12 and Big 8 we have played them forever i dont want to see a game against them. Baylor is only Big 12 but a part of the benefit of moving conferences was supposed to be new interesting matchups against teams we have not played forever….

Agreed. Just looked up last years bowl appearances by SEC teams. The best 8 SEC teams last postseason were able to avoid crap matchups.Zgeo wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:07 am I am done playing Big 12 teams….
