Bottom post of the previous page:

SJ came in to pitch in the top of the 7h with no outs and MIami OH jacking HRs to tie it up. SJ gets the 3 outs without any runs and we go to the bottom of the 7th with Boone hitting a single, then Hansen hitting a 2 run walk off bomb.

OU wins 9-7. I can't say enough for the resilience of this team. The hoopla of the new field took a massive toll and these girls just refused to lose.

I wish I could hit my 9-iron that good! She went down and golfed that pitch to the outfield seats!

They get a little confused in the excitement. Hansen hit a 3 run bomb in the top of the 7th to tie Clemson and go to extra innings (Jordy shutting down Clemson for the bottom of the 7th). Then Tiare jacked an HR in extra innings (Jordy shut out Clemson in the bottom) to win.

I think this game was just so thrilling - and just what the Sooners needed? I also think this close contest will do wonders for the game, showing audiences the big time thrills and chills that softball can provide! Proud of the grit the team showed!

Would absolutely love to be a fly on the wall in the staff' film studies of this game - and how the coaches break it all down. (JT not will miss any details, and I would enjoy hearing what he thought the Red Hawks were doing to us with the long ball. Anything to learn there?)

Hansen's Heroics! Well done!

Love's Field was jumpin'!

Toby should NEVER again call softball . Chris would never have let this happen . :crackthewhip:

That was my thinking exactly - way to build in a big jinx by pulling in Toby to call the game. In all seriousness it worked out, but I wonder how Plank feels about Toby being called in over him to call the game on ESPN+.

Plank is the radio voice. On some of the pure SoonerSports games, he does a simulcast, but on most of the home ESPN+ games, Chris will do radio and Chad McKee will do the tv play by play. Toby is a VAST improvement over Chad.

I know because I will synch Chris with the ESPN+ feed rather than listen to Chad.

The distraction of the grand new diamond and all its splendor was almost enough to do us in, especially in combination with Miami of Ohio not having enough reputation to get our attention. I hope we have a better grip on the situation going forward.

The Sooners won, which IS the most important thing.

Watching the top of the 7th before any pitches, I remarked and worried that they had seen Keeney and it might be smart to bring in another pitcher to make them have to figure her out in only one inning.

I hope this game leads to some critical thinking when you have the luxury of 6 different pitchers.

If someone hires JT Gasso away from OU, I would like Patty to interview the hitting coach for Miami of Ohio! It's impressive what he's been able to achieve with ball players that are not all that highly recruited.
