You are correct. That now makes 2 portal transfers (Joe Bamisile too) requiring waivers. Apparently Sherfield used the portal between his Freshman/Sophmore years when he transferred from Wichita State to Nevada.

I hope these won't be an issue with the NCAA.

I’m not worried we won’t get this kid. My concern is that there seems to be no limits on transfers at all if waivers are granted simply on request.

I just saw this. This is not helpful to Porter. At least he has some time to pull in some good assistants. It's very likely that whoever he brings in, will have to learn his system before they can teach it to the players. Not a good situation. We have some talent coming in, but we need to be out hitting the 2023 recruiting trail not re-staffing.

^^^

Agree. Not only have to hire but need to worry if any existing incoming recruits move with him.

Four-star Jacolb Cole has committed to Oklahoma for the class of 2023, he tells On3.

The 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward from Bellaire, Texas becomes the Sooners’ first commitment to the class. Cole received offers from the likes of LSU, Nebraska, Tennessee, Houston, Texas, and others.

Cole is ranked as the No. 78 overall prospect in the class of 2023, according to the On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Texas native will play his senior year of high school at powerhouse Link Academy in Branson, Missouri.

Cole talks commitment to Oklahoma

“I ultimately have to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to extend my academic and athletic journey at the University of Oklahoma,” Cole said to On3.

“I chose OU because of the plan coach Porter Moser and the rest of the staff presented me with. I also love the culture they have built in the program and the way they have treated me like family since the first day they started recruiting me. The choice was a no-brainer, and I am extremely excited to get to work! #BoomerSooner”

Sooners loaded in 2022

Sooner fans will have to wait another year for Cole to arrive on campus, but not long at all to welcome in their seven-man 2022 recruiting class. Headed to Norman from the high school ranks is Milos Uzan (four-star), Otega Oweh (four-star), Benjamin Schroder (NR), and Luke Northweather (NR). The Sooners also hit the portal this offseason and landed Grant Sherfield (19.1 PPG at Nevada), Joe Bamisile (16.3 PPG at George Washington), and Sam Godwin (6.3 PPG at Wofford).

The Sooners will also return Tanner Groves (11.6 PPG), Jalen Hill (9.1 PPG), Jacob Groves (4.6 PPG), C.J. Noland (3.9 PPG), and Bijan Cortes (2.0 PPG).

Oklahoma finished the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 19-16, finishing 7-11 in conference play.

I read today where Grant was just granted his waiver for immediate eligibility. He should be a big addition to next year's team.
