Other WCWS Games Day 1

Post by White River »

The long wait is over. Let the games begin! Texas vs UCLA for the opener looks like a great kickoff.

It also looks like the day session of games will also get a nice break in the weather which is nice.

Dolcini vs Faraimo. Shapes up like a pitcher's duel.

Great Texas defense throws the UCLA runner out at home to save a run. Those are words you don't hear often! Each team gets two hits but the score is still 0-0 after 1.

:ou: I hate Texas, but assuming we beat Northwestern, I think they are the better rematch. Thoughts?

I agree. UCLA scares me a bit. Plus, I always like the Sooners chances against a pitcher they have seen before this season; even though both loses this year were to pitchers they had previously won against.

UCLA's defensive error surrenders the first run of the game. 1-0 Texas

I stand corrected. The play was overturned due to runner interference. Runner goes back to second. 1 out. No score.

Texas has some hits and HR in the 3rd inning - now leads 4-0. I'm starting to think the Big12 is by far the strongest conference this year.

So much for my pitcher's duel prediction. Texas smacks Faraimo with a RBI Triple, an RBI single and a two run homer. Faraimo comes out of the game with one out in the third. Texas leads 4-0. Horns hit the ball with authority. It wasn't a fluke.

:ou: I have thought UCLA was somewhat over rated all year long.

Horns lead 5-0 heading into the 6th. UCLA hasn't mounted any offensive threat since the first inning. So far, Texas is playing well offensively, defensively and in the circle.

7-0 Texas. Horns send another UCLA pitcher to the dugout. No outs in the top of the 6th.
