Post by OUBeliever56A »

The 8-6-3 Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Austin on Thursday to play Texas (12-1-4 overall). Texas is in first place with a 6-0-2 record in the Big 12 for 20 points. OU is in 6th with a 3-4-1 Big 12 record and 10 points. OU is guaranteed a spot in the Big 12 Soccer Tourney next week, but if the Sooners could pick up a win or a tie, maybe they can maintain the 6th position or even move up a spot in the standings.

The Oklahoma Sooners Women's Soccer Team played in Austin last night and lost to Texas 3-1 in their final regular season match. Leonie Weber scored the only Sooner goal in the 35th minute on a penalty kick after a Longhorn foul on Bailey Wesco in the penalty box. Texas scored twice in the first half before Weber's goal and once more in the second half for the win.

Bri Amos (SR-Forward) did not play for the Sooners in the match against Texas. I think the reason was that she had to sit out the game due to accumulated Yellow Card penalties. Morganne Eikelbarner took her place in the starting lineup. In goal for the Sooners, Short played GK in the first half with Ramey playing GK in the second half. Oklahoma played 22 players in the match.

Oklahoma and Texas Tech played on October 2nd. Texas Tech won 2-1 after two 1st half goals by Tech in Norman. Texas Tech is 5-1-3 in Big 12 play and 9-3-6 overall.

The Sooners are an improved team in 2022 playing many Sophomores and Freshman this season the majority of minutes. A win in the Big 12 Tournament would be the icing on the cake for the team in 2022. It would also guarantee the team a winning record for the season. The team has made positive strides in 2022 under Coach Mark Carr's leadership.

Good luck to the Sooners on Sunday versus Texas Tech.
