Big 12 Men's Basketball Standings on Tuesday Morn - Jan 24th

Post by OUBeliever56A »

After a Baylor win over Kansas last night 75-69 the Big 12 Standings and Rankings are shown below:

1st - Kansas State = 6-1 - 17-2 overall - NET #16, AP 5, Coaches 5
T2nd - Iowa State = 5-2 - 14-4 overall - NET #10, AP 12, Coaches 13
T2nd - Texas = 5-2 - 16-3 overall - NET #9, AP 10, Coaches 10
T4th - Baylor = 5-3 - 15-5 overall - NET #13, AP 17, Coaches 17
T4th - Kansas = 5-3 - 16-4 overall - NET #8, AP 8, Coaches 8
6th - Texas Christian = 4-3 - 15-4 overall - NET #17, AP 11, Coaches 11
7th - Oklahoma State = 3-4 - 11-8 overall - NET #42, AP -, Coaches -
8th - Oklahoma = 2-5 - 11-7 overall - MET #57, AP -, Coaches -
9th - West Virginia = 1-6 - 11-8 overall - NET #30, AP -, Coaches -
10th - Texas Tech = 0-7, 10-9 overall - NET #73, AP -, Coaches -

I wonder when the NET ranking for West Virginia will fall in line with their record. Imagine if you were a Kansas Jayhawk fan (I know that is very hard to do.) But starting with the big 12 schedule earlier this year, Kansas was 11-1 overall. Then they beat OSU by 2, Texas Tech by 3, won big over WV by 14, beat OU by 4, beat iowa State by 2, lost to K-State by 1, lost to TCU by 23 and lost to Baylor by 6. They are 5-3 since then and have only 1 win in the Big 12 by more than 4 points. I actually think that the Jayhawks are alot like Oklahoma this season. The play strong defense and have one true scorer. I would say that Wilson is better than Sherfield but he is the Jayhawk scoring threat unless defenses let Dick shoot 3's all day.

The rest of the Big 12 schedule for midweek is:

Tuesday - Jan 24th
- Oklahoma at TCU - 7 PM on ESPN+
- Kansas State at Iowa State - 8 PM on ESPNU - With a win, I-State can be in a tie for 1st. At home, I-State should be tough. K-State has cooled off. I-State wins I think.
- Oklahoma State at Texas - 8 PM on LHN - This is a big game for the Cowboys. Cowboys are playing well. Texas is not playing so well. I think I take the prettier color of Orange in the game. OSU wins a big game on the road.

Wednesday - Jan 25th
- West Virginia at Texas Tech - 6 PM on ESPNU - Well this is the bottom of the Big 12 playing. WV is supposed to be good according to the NET ranking. Tech is back at full strength. I think Tech wins their first Big 12 conference game.

More on the OU at TCU game on another post.
