...had to euthanize my cat today.
Nathan was my boy. My pal.
We shared 16 years together.
He was hard to kill. Vet had to hit him with two injections.
Watched him take his last breath.
Know I'll see him again.
But, doesn't lessen the pain of seperation.
Interesting that PAIN is so illustrative of life.
Love ya buddy! R.I.P.

So sorry to hear, China! It's tough to lose a member of the family. Our condolences.

My sympathies, Chinaman. Whether a cat or a dog, our pets (especially those whose friendship has spanned a number of years) can and do form a bond very similar to that of a human family member.
My wife and I had to put our pet cat Izzy down a few years ago, and even though we replaced her with another lovable fur-ball, Josie, we still occasionally feel the pain of her loss.

I feel your pain, friend.

My dog is on his last legs. He pees all over my wood floors because he can't get down my steps to the yard, but just can't find the strength to put him down. He still plays baby puppie (toy) with me every day before he finds his bed for 15 hours of sleep.

I was never a cat person but my wife has three that adore her.

Having to put down numerous best friends (dogs) I can testify that it’s one of life’s most difficult tasks. Of course we only do it as a last resort and as a compassionate act of love.

...sincerely appreciate everybody's kind words. Encouragement helps.
Probably kept him 6 months longer than I should have, but I was selfish for his company.
In the end I knew what I had to do was be merciful.
You have to love them enough to let them go.

Oh China...I am so very sorry to hear about losing your pal. I am proud of you for being there with him when he left for the rainbow bridge. Don't be surprised if you catch a shadow out of the corner of your eye...they don't really leave us until they know we are ok.

I had to let my Pita go last year. He hadn't been eating for a couple of days and I truly thought it was something to do with being diabetic and something my vet's could fix. I never dreamed it would be the last time. They had to knock him out to take an Xray and found something that would have meant extensive surgery, he was asleep when he left and he didn't know I was even there, I have many regrets and a broken heart.

Sorry to hear that David. I have always been a dog guy as you know. I have had to say good by to so many, & it never get easier. I could
not understand how people could get as attached to cat as much as dogs. But a neighbor of mind here was a huge cat guy. My Marsha
wanted to get a cat so we did. That dam thing has become my cat. It crawls up in my lap, when I watch TV. It sleeps with us. It retrieves as good as my lab. It follow me every were I go. Now I understand your lost. Sorry for your lost.
