Michaela Fortuna had a slow start to her round on Tuesday at the NCAA Regional in Athens, GA. Ms. Fortuna bogeyed 5 of the first 6 holes but a birdie on the 9th hole dropped her back to 4-over on the front nine. Two more bogeys on #11 and #13 raised her score to 6-over with 5 holes remaining. In a bit of a comeback, Fortuna birdied the last to holes (both Par 5's) to finish her day at 4-over par 76. Her two day total is 3-over at 147 and leaves her in a Tie for 19th in the Individual Portion of the NCAA Regional.

Here is the staff writers article about Fortuna's round on Tuesday.

For the two days, Ms. Fortuna is playing the Par 5's very well as she is 5-under on them while playing 8 Par 5's. The Par 3's have been a tough go for Fortuna so far though as she is 5-over while playing 8 Par 3's.. The Par 4's have been played fairly well by Fortuna as she is 3-over while playing 20 Par 4's in the two days.

Good luck to Ms. Fortuna in her final round today. It looks like Fortuna tees off at 7:58 today.

Michaela Fortuna, OU Women's Golfer, finished her 3rd round in very good fashion on Wednesday as she finished with a birdie, par, birdie, eagle on last four holes. Ms. Fortuna shot 5-under par on her back nine to finish at 2-under 70 for the day. The 70 gave her a three-day total of 1-over Par at 217. Fortuna finished in a Tie for 11th place with 2 other players.

The front nine for Ms. Fortuna was her nemesis again on Wednesday as she shot 3-over Par. For the three rounds, Fortuna was 10-over Par on the front nine and 9-under Par on the back nine. Here is the staff writers article about Wednesday's round.

Fortuna finished the three-day event 1-over 217 and was the fourth-highest ranked individual on a non-advancing team. Kent State's Leon Takagi advanced to the NCAA Championship as an individual. Congratulations to Ms. Fortuna on her regional play.

"Mikhela has had a fantastic career and I'm so proud of everything she has done for our program" said Oklahoma head women's golf coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. "She came to Norman as a shy 17-year old kid and is leaving with a college degree and so much confidence. We loved having her on our team and can't wait to see what is next for her."

I have enjoyed commenting on her play for the last two years. She is a very consistent player that will be tough to replace in the upcoming seasons for the Sooners.
