Oklahoma Soccer: Hawkins B12 Offensive P-O-T-W - Ark-PB on Thur!

Post by OUBeliever56A »

Good news for Emma Hawkins based upon the Week #1 results for the first two games. Emma Hawkins shared Offensive Player of the Week honors with Trinity Byars (Texas). Hawkins scored 5 goals and 1 assist in the first two games for 11 total points. Byars for the Longhorns also scored 5 goals during the week.

Straight from the Big 12 Release on Hawkins: Hawkins netted five of the 10 goals posted by the Sooners in the 2023 opening week. The redshirt senior tied a single-game program record with a hat trick in OU’s 6-0 win over Tulsa while also dishing out an assist to own the single-game record with seven points. Against Tulsa, she scored on all three shots she took. Hawkins ended the week with a brace in the Sooner win (4-2) against Oral Roberts on Sunday. Her efforts helped OU achieve its first 2-0 start since 2019.

In Thursday action, the Oklahoma Sooners will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their third match of the season at home at John Crain Field. The Game Time has been pushed back 1 hour due to the heat. The match now starts at 8 PM on Thursday. The match will be televised on ESPN+ and there will be a Live Stat feed as well.

At 2-0, the Sooners have equalled their best opening record since 2019's start. In 2019, the Sooners tied their 3rd game with OSU in Norman.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff is 2-0 also on the young season. Ark-Pine Bluff defeated Tougaloo College in Mississippi 16-0 in their opening match on the 17th. On the 20th, last Sunday, the Lady Lions of A-PB won over North American University 4-2 as they outscored NAU 2-1 in each half.

Oklahoma's game will be the last home game to start the season for a while. After the match the Sooners travel to Birmingham, AL to play Samford on Sunday 27th in their first match of the season at 1 PM. Samford is currently 0-1-1 with a tie against Auburn. The Sooners will spend their next weekend in Washington as they play two matches in Spokane. On Thursday, the Sooners will face Gonzaga at 7 PM. Gonzaga is 2-0 on the season. On Sunday they will play Montana at 11 AM in a neutral site game. Montana is also 2-0 on the season winning two games in the Dakotas to start the year. The Samford and Gonzaga matches will be on ESPN+. The Montana match will have a Live Stats feed.

Good luck tomorrow night to the Sooners as they try to continue their strong play to open the 2023 season.
