Sooner Women's Golf Team sends Players to 2 Tourneys this Week!

The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Golf Team continues their fall schedule of tournaments at the Illini Women's Invitational and Dale McNamara Invitational on Oct. 9-10. The Sooners will send their 5-person lineup to lineup to Medinah Country Club (par 72, 6,166 yards) in Medinah, Ill. Sophomore Savannah Barber, freshman Holly McLean, sophomore Isabelle Schlick, junior Reagan Chaney and sophomore Emily Hun will comprise the OU lineup at Medinah. Sophomore Gracie Mayo will compete as an individual. The Sooners will play 36-holes on Monday followed by 18-holes on Tuesday.

A pair of individuals from the Sooners will also travel to the Golf Club of (par 72,6,246 yards) in Broken, Arrow, Okla. Seniors Kaylee Vesely and Nina Lang are in the field as individuals at the Dale McNamara. It looks like the two Sooners will also play 36 -oles on Monday and 18-holes on Tuesday.

The Oklahoma Sooner Women's Golf Team opened their play at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah Country Club on Monday with morning and afternoon rounds for a long day of 36 holes played. In the morning round the Sooners shot 11-over par (299). They rebounded a bit in the afternoon round as they shot 6-over par (294). their 17-over par total of 593 leaves the Sooners in 12th Place of 15 teams in the tourney.

Individually, the Sooners were led by Isabella Schlick as she shot a 73, 71 for 144 and Even par through 36 holes. Schick is in a T-25th Place. Savannah Barber was three shots behind Schlick with rounds of 74, 73 for a 3-over par 147 total. Barber is in a T-38th Place. Reagan Chaney shot 6-over par (76, 74 = 150) and is in a T-57th Place. Holly McLean shot 8-over (76, 76 = 152) and is in a T-66th Place. Emily Hun shot 10-over par (78, 76 = 154) and is in a T-69th Place.

Gracie Mayo is also playing at Medina as an individual player. Mayo shot 75, 73 for a 4-over par 148 total as she is in a T-47th.

Two other Sooners are playing in the Dale McNamara Invitational at Golf Club of Oklahoma on Monday in Broken Arrow, OK. Both are playing as individual players. Nona Lang is at Even par 144 and is T-14th as she shot 75, 69 during her 36 holes on Monday. Kaylee Vesely shout 1-over par for the day as she carded a 74, 71 and is in a T-18th through 36 holes.

Tuesday's 18 holes to complete the tourney will be a shotgun start at 8:30 AM with the Sooners starting on hole #14.

The Oklahoma Women's Golf Team shot their second subpar round of the Fall on Tuesday as they shot 1-under 287. Barber shot a 3-under 69, McLean shot a 1-under 71, Chaney shot 1-over 73 and Schlick shot a 2-over 74 for the four scores used for the 287 total. Hun added a 6-over round of 78. Tuesday's round was the final round of the Illini Women's Invitational in Medina, IL.

For the tournament OU finished in 12th place (15 total teams) with their 16-over par total of 880. Four other Big 12 teams were in the tourney, Oklahoma State finished at 4-under with a 860 total in 5th place. Houston finished at Even par with a 864 total and in a T-6th place. Texas Tech shot 29-over par for a 893 total and finished in 13th place. TCU shot 31-over par for a total of 895 and finished in 14th place.

The LSU women won the tourney at 27-under par as a team. Mississippi shot 18-under par for 2nd place with Northwestern shooting 14-under par in 3rd and San Jose State in 4th as they shot 10-under par.

Individually for the Sooners, Barber shot Even par for the tourney with a 216 total. Barber finished this in a T-25th. Schlick shot 2-over par for a 218 total and finished in a T-33rd. Chaney and McLean both shot 7-over par for a 223 total and finished in a T-55th and Hun shot 16-over par for a 232 total and finished in 75th place. Gracie Mayo played as an individual for OU and shot 9-over par for a 225 total and finished in a T-62nd place.

At the Dale McNamara Invitational in Broken Arrow, OK, two other Sooner Women golfers played their final round on Tuesday. Vesely shot an Even-par 72 for a 1-over par total of 217. She finished in a T-15th place. Lang shot a 3-over par 75, for a 3-over par total of 219. She finished in a T-23rd for the tourney.

The Sooner Women will play their next tournament on October 22nd and 23rd (Sunday-Monday) at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, TX.
