The Oklahoma Sooner Volleyball Team will host Kansas State on Thursday and Friday nights in 6 PM matches at McCasland Field House. The Sooners will try to win their first Big 12 Match this season by defeating the Wildcats. The Wildcats are 4-4 in Big 12 play and 10-7 overall. OU is 0-7 in Big 12 play and 6-10 overall.
Kansas State has split DHers with TCU and Baylor who are both in the top half of the Big 12. They have two other wins against I-State and West Virginia to teams in the bottom of the Big 12. Their other two losses have been to Cincinnati and UCF. UCF is in the top half and Cincy is in the bottom half. The reviews about K-State are mixed based upon that. OU has played against all top half Big 12 teams so far losing two to Texas and UCF. They have lost single matches to TCU, BYU and Kansas.
To me the goal for OU from her on out in 2023 is play better than .500 in the Big 12 the rest of the way. The Sooners have 11 matches to play in the Big 12. If they could go 9-2 the Sooners could reach .500 in the Big 12. that might not be realistic, but against the almost the bottom half of the Big 12 I would think it could happen. I realistic goal might be to finish 7-4 in their last eleven matches to finish at 7-11 in the Big 12.
I think the Sooners have the offense needed at the net to win. They are serving more quality serves, but still have too many serving errors and receive/first touch misplays though. If they can improve those two things, the Sooners can start to win these close matches that they have played all season, especially in the Big 12.
Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the K-State matchup. The matchup between OU and Kansas State also includes a brother-brother matchup as Jason Mansfield coache K-State. Jason is Coach Aaron Mansfield's older brother and he is also at K-State in his first year.

I will be there tonight to see the Sooner VB team play. I wish them the best of luck and high-level play. I am ready to see a Sooner victory tonight.
