...the impact he had on college football in the 20th Century is undeniable, and well documented.

He never played college football but was an offensive savant that began his career with Hal Mumy @ KY.

Bob Stoops maintained that as the Def Cord. for the Gators, Leach's Ky offense was the biggest challenge he faced.

Named the HC at OKLAHOMA, he quickly named Leach his OC>

Leach's offense at OU, carried on by Mangino after he accepted the Tech HC job won the SOONER'S 7th Natl Title.

The reverberations are still being felt today.

However like many prominent offenses in college football, the shelf life can be short.

The Split T; the Wishbone T, the Veer; the Run & Shoot; the Air Raid...eventually athletes, & coaching adapt.

Which is why most of the offenses I just named are pretty much history.

They're hybrid, integrated mixing of different aspects for any edge vs. 21st century elite college defenses.
