The Oklahoma Sooners Women's Tennis Team opens the spring slate of matches on Friday, January 12th, with a doubleheader against Wichita State at 11 AM and then against Wyoming at 3 PM. The matches will be indoors at the Headington Tennis Center on the west side of the LNC parking area.
The Sooners were very successful in the 2023 spring schedule and then again in the fall schedule. They usually had 7 players on the courts competing for the Sooners in the fall. Those players are:
Senior Dana Guzman and junior Emma Staker who both played singles and doubles along with sophomores Julia Garcia Ruiz and Romana Cisovska who also usually played singles and doubles. New Sooners via the transfer portal were Florencia Urrutia (Kentucky) playing singles and doubles, Ava Catanzarite (UCLA) and Alina Shcherbinina (Baylor) who both played doubles and sometimes singles.
Newcomers Roisin Gilheany, from Australia, and Chloé Noël, who arrives from France, also join the Sooners this spring. as new players.
It will be interesting to see who takes the courts and in what order for the first two matches this spring.
If you go out to Headington, tomorrow, dress warm and park close to the the facility.
