Oklahoma Women's Tennis hosts Cincy & WV in Big 12 Play: Fri-Sun

The #20 ranked Oklahoma Sooners Women's Tennis Team will be at home at Headington Family Tennis Center to play two matches this weekend in Big 12 Conference Play. On Friday at 2 PM the Sooners will host Cincinnati then on Sunday at 1 PM the Sooners will host West Virginia. Oklahoma is favored to win both matches this weekend.

Oklahoma is 0-1 in Big 12 play (5-4 overall) as they dropped their match to Texas (#7) last weekend in Austin 3-4.
Cincinnati is 0-2 in Big 12 play (5-4 overall) as they dropped matches at home last weekend to Baylor 2-5 and TCU 0-7.
West Virginia 0-2 in Big 12 play (11-3 overall) as they dropped matches at home last weekend to TCU 0-6 and Baylor 0-4.

Both of the visiting teams will also play Texas this weekend on the opposite days on their swing south in the Big 12.

The #20 ranked Oklahoma Sooner Women's Tennis team defeated Cincinnati 7-0 yesterday at the Headington Family Tennis Center to pick up their first conference win of the 2024 spring season. The Sooners played well as they revised their singles lineup with success on Friday.

The Sooners won the Double point by winning the #2 and #3 matches over Cincy. The the Sooner rn the table in singles with the last two matches being won in a 3rd Set fast tie-breaker.

Men play at 10 AM vs Virginia Commonwealth

Women play following the Men at 1 PM vs West Virginia.

The Oklahoma Women's Tennis Team won their Sunday match over West Virginia by the score of 6-1. The play was outside at the Headington Family Tennis Center. The win moved the Sooners to 2-1 in Big 12 play and 7-4 overall.

The Sooners won the Doubles point as the #3 team Chloe Noel/Ava Catanzarite (OU) won their match 6-3 was the first team to win their match. The Sooner #2 team, #63 Zdena Safarova/Julia Garcia Ruiz (OU) then won their match by the same score 6-3. That secured the Doubles point for the Sooners. The #1 match was also played to conclusion as #22 Roisin Gilheany/Dana Guzman (OU) won by the score of 6-2.

In the Singles matches, playing in the #1 spot, #33 Julia Garcia Ruiz (OU) won her match 6-3, 6-1. Then playing in the #2 spot, #42 Dana Guzman (OU) won by the score of 6-3, 6-1 also. In the #3 spot, Chloe Noel (OU) 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 on two straight sets. That secured the match 4-0 for the Sooners and gave them the win over West Virginia.

Playing out their matches to conclusion, Ava Catanzarite (OU) playing in the #4 spot won 7-5, 6-2. In the #6 spot, Zdena Safarova (OU) dropped her close match 6-4, 6-4. In the #5 spot, the Sooners' Emma Staker (OU) won 6-4, 6-4 for the final 6-1 score.

The Sooner Women are playing well in conference play.

The Sooners will hit the road for their second matchup of the season against UCF on Friday. First serve in Orlando is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT. The Sooners will stop off in Houston to play on Sunday at 1 PM in another Big 12 DH weekend.
