Seeing Aly Raisman as one of the announcers reminded me of this. For those that don't know Ragan Smith's journey, she was a member of the US National Team for 5 years (2014-2019). She was an alternate on the 2016 US Olympic squad that Aly Raisman was on. A team that Maggie Nichols would have been on except for a knee injury. Ragan was also the 2017 USA All-Around champion.

The last time that Raisman was an announcer at one of our meets, they showed a picture of her and Ragan from 2014. Aly was also one of the gymnasts that testified before Congress, along with Maggie Nichols, about the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal.

KJ's Lady Gymnasts: Post an Incredible 198.775 on Sunday Afternoon - Sets New Program Record

How does Coach KJ Kindler and her coaches do it? How do they just continue to raise the bar and the ladies performing for the Sooners just simply outperforming themselves? It is simply amazing. Sometimes I get the feeling that coaches like Wooden, Wilkerson, Auriemma, Gasso and others are simply watching, shaking their heads and smiling in approval ot the job she is doing. Yesterday, the Sooners posted a 198.775 in front of 9,121 fans to set a new program record for Oklahoma.

Alabama, the opponent, posted a nice 198.025 but finished a distant 2nd trailing by .750 behind the Sooners. They might have been shaking their heads also.

Yesterday, for them, the Sooners posted a pedestrian 49.450 on the vault as the Sooners counted a 9.850 and a 9.875 with three 9.900 or higher scores. Bowers 9.925 on the vault led the Sooners. After that, the Sooners were lights out for their five counting scores on the three remaining events.

On the Bars, the Sooners counted 9,925 or better scores with a high of three-9.975s by LeVasseur, Smith and Bowers. A Torrez fall on the bars in the #3 spot forced the final three Sooners to put up counting scores and they did just that with a 9.975, 9.925 and a 9.975. The Sooners had three 10's from one judge in the rotation. The Sooners posted a 49.800 on the Bars.

On the Beam, the Sooners counted 9.900 scores or better with a high of 9.975 by Torres. After Siegfeldt fell in the #2 spot, the final four Sooners had to step up. Again they did just that with a 9.950, 9.975, 9.900 and 9.950. Torrez got one 10 from one of the two judges. The Sooners posted 49.700 on the Beam.

On the Floor, the Sooners did not use a 9.900 as they posted five scores of 9.925 or better. The best of the Sooners was Bowers with a perfect 10 in the Floor. Torrez received one 10 from one judge for a 9.975 also. The Sooners posted a 49.825 on the Floor.

That all added up to a 198.775 for the afternoon of work for the Sooner Women's Gymnastics Team. for a new program record.

(From the article below.) - This is the second time this season the Sooners have broken their team score record (198.675 – Feb. 23). The Sooners now hold the third-highest score in NCAA history, tied with Florida who earned a 198.775 in 2022. Along with their overall scoring record, the Sooners tied the program record on floor with a 49.825, punctuated by a perfect 10 from Jordan Bowers.

The win also marked the 500th win at Oklahoma for 18th-year head coach K.J. Kindler. Kindler is now just six wins away from her 600th career win as a head coach.

Bowers won the All-Around with her 39.850 on the four events. LeVasseur finished with a 39.700 for 3rd place. Torrez finished fifth with her 39.025.

Here is the Sooner staff writers article about the big win over Alabama.

Somewhere the Sooners also paid tribute to the 7 Sooner Seniors on Sunday.

Sunday's meet served as Senior Night for Audrey Davis, Soraya Hawthorne, Bell Johnson, Katherine LeVasseur, Sheridan Ramsey, Ragan Smith and Meilin Sullivan.

Davis, Johnson, LeVasseur, Smith all performed on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to all six Seniors for their hard work, the performances and their dedication to a very difficult sport.
