Oklahoma Women's Basketball: At the Dance for 3rd Year in a Row!

Post by OUBeliever56A »

The Oklahoma Women's Basketball Team (22-9 and Regular Season Big 12 Champ) earned an at-large bid and will be the No. 5 seed in the Albany I Region. Oklahoma will take on No. 12-seeded Florida Gulf Coast in the first round, with the winner taking on the victor of No. 4 seed and host Indiana and No. 13-seeded Fairfield with the pod's first- and second-round games held in Bloomington, Indiana.

Florida Gulf Coast is 29-4 for season and the regular season and tourney champ of the ASUN conference. After a 13-4 pre-conference record the Eagles have won every ASUN conference game this season in the regular season and the tourney. FGCU is currently on a 22-game wining streak and have not lost since Dec 10th when they lost to Duke. In their current streak of wins, they have won by 11 points or more except for one game when they won by 7 points. Any observation about the Eagles has to include that they are playing very well.

Oklahoma has had a bit of an up-down-up-down season for Coach Jennie Baranczyk. The Sooners started the season by going 5-0 before a 1-5 stretch to end the pre-conference season at 6-5. Then the Sooners rolled into the Big 12 conference play with a 12-1 start in their first 13 games. They finished the final five games of conference play with a 3-2 record before going 1-1 in the Big 12 Tourney for a 4-3 finish.

Here is the Sooner staff writers about the Sooners berth in the NCAA in 2024.

The Sooners and the Eagles play on Saturday at 3 PM. The game will be televised on the ESPNews cable channel and on Radio: KOKC 1520 AM.

More on the game will come later.

Good luck to the Sooners on Saturday.
